3. I specifically made sure that
I will be entirely free the week of the primary so I can personally pull the lever for LAMONT!!!

Sure I could vote via absentee....but it wouldn't be the same. ;)

5. Not that I should even have to remind you, but bring your friends too
That is assuming that they are Lamont supporters. This poll is great news but the fact is that polling likely primary voters is arguably the most difficult thing to do in political polling and is know for being inaccurate. The momentum is clearly with Lamont, but remember that sudden negative ad blitz can change everything. I hope Lamont's campaign has a response ad in their drawer with Tom DeLay's endorsement of Senator Lieberman.

4. Why won't Lieberman accept Colbert's invitation to come on his show?
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 02:30 PM by Benhurst
I'm sure Holy Joe would come off every bit as well as Dubya did at the White House Press banquet.

Go for it, Joe! You have nothing left to lose. Leave 'em laughing.

9. Lamont was great on Colbert!
I have been hoping for a Lamont win - he seems like such a great guy! I guess we'll know soon enough...then Lieberman can show his ass and run as an independent. What a prick! See ya, Joe. Wish I could say it's been nice, but it hasn't.

10. I told everybody he's DONE!! last week
And i predict it will be double digit lead for Lamont on primary night.I also think Lieberman will be forced out of the general election from the democratic machine because even as a independent he's not going to win despite what the pundits say.he's TOASTED!! injoy your retirement Lieberman.

12.  Lamont is charasmatic, he really did shine on Colbert Report
Cozying up to Bush has really hurt Joe Lieberman and he's taking a beating for it. He can't say he wasn't warned. It's really a shame that he decided to do that. He's done some good things for the party, and to throw it away for this administration is almost obscene.

Lamont is sharp, and my husband and I were both impressed with him. He weathered it pretty well on
Stephen's show; For some reason though, I can't believe that Colbert is a liberal; he's always putting the Democrats down; but in another way, maybe he's just trying to be balanced. That's my hope anyway. At any rate, Stephen Colbert is becoming a phenomonon.

14. You do know that Colbert is playing a character, right?
His entire show is satirical. He makes his character out to be an extreme right wing egomaniac (based on Bill O'Reilly) in order to make fun of people like that.

15. I'm embarrassed because I hadn't thought of it that way
Yes, everything Stephen says is "sort of the flip side" of what he believes. He is just so unique.
No one ever said I am the brightest one on my block. Thanks, I needed this reminder.

16. S'alright
Colbert's satire once fooled Tom Delay's legal defense outfit. They posted a video online and sent out email inviting everyone to see Colbert bust open the "truth" about Hollywood liberals.

20. A show created to make rightwingers look stupid
that manages to look authentic to real rightwingers... is spectacular irony. It just goes to show how difficult satire is anymore, archconservatives are just so mind-roastingly loopy :hi:

21. I can understand if you're not familiar with him
The thing is that most of Colbert's audience had already seen him regularly on the daily show in which he played pretty much the same character. If you weren't a frequent watcher of the Daily Show I can understand how you would be confused.

I really do appreciate your response about Stephen Colbert; he's really great and a livewire, but I just hadn't seen enough of his talent to put it all together. :toast:

13. Something odd/interesting from that poll
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 05:57 PM by oberliner
Look at these numbers:

No col College Annual household income.......
degree degree <30K 30-50 50-100 >100K

Lieberman 43% 39% 49% 46% 41% 36%
Lamont 51 57 46 51 56 58

The wealthiest folks support Lamont by over 20 percentage points, while the lowest income folks slightly favor Lieberman.

Isn't that the opposite of what one would expect?

19. Could be name recognition
If you look at the favorable/unfavorable polls lower down on the page, Lamont's favorable in the lowest income range is slightly higher than Lieberman's, and his unfavorable is markedly lower than Joe's. Which would seem to indicate their vote would tilt toward Lamont... except that Lamont has his highest "haven't heard enough" (no fave/unfave opinion) polling in that group, 31%.
