it seems pretty good, maybe a alternative to google?

3. Just ran a few searches that I run with some regularity
and they were better sorted than what I get in Google. Nice. Thanks for hte head's up, hadn't tried it before.

5. All the time
It was one recommended by a prof when I was in library school. It's results algorithms organize items in a different and usually more useful way. Plus, if memory serves correctly, they're very clear about sponsored links and who is paying to get higher up on the results list.
