Unlike Republicans, I am not afraid.
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 09:56 PM by dave29
I'm not afraid of terrorists.

I'm not afraid of making hard choices.

I'm not afraid of taxes, if they benefit everyone.

I'm not afraid of people who are different from me.

I'm not afraid of people of the opposite sex.

I'm not afraid of people of a different sexual orientation or lifestyle or class.

I'm not afraid of hard work, or earning my way.

I'm not afraid of working with people of differing opinions.

I'm not afraid of our Constitution, and most of all

as a result,

I'm not afraid of being an American.

Stop selling us fear, because we, the Democrats, never bought it.

1. Great post!
One would almost believe, after listening to the "news" over the past 5 years, that everyone is afraid of everything, and if not, then they are not paying attention.

I say bullshit.

I have the same fears I always had, no more and no less. They have not been expanded to fear some muslim looking person.

I fear my ignorant neighbors more than someone who lives halfway around the world.

5. The media really does push fear.
As do the neocons. It's sickening. I have never been a fearful person either.

2. ...great stuff.. can I add that I am not afraid of progress.
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 10:00 PM by NRaleighLiberal
I am not afraid of peace.
I am not afraid of change.
I am not afraid of intellect.
I am not afraid of science.
I am not afraid of thinking things through and changing my mind.
I am not afraid of helping those less fortunate than me.

But I AM afraid that the current misadministration and those who support them are ruining the present and the future for the entire world.

13. could be the making of campaign material
I'm 9th generation to an ancestor who traveled by foot, cart, horse, sailing ship; over streams, rivers and mountains; and, through 4 countries and across an ocean to come to America, c. 1700, to settle in a colony where his native tongue wasn't spoken ... he came here for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness ... to be free, not afraid ... certainly not to be spied upon or part of any corporate feudal society ... he had had enough of living in fear ... Bu$h and Republicans and their enablers are taking us back to the tyranny he escaped.

I've thought for a long time that we need to get back to our Founding roots as part of the political message; as well as, being reminded of what life was like before all the progress we've made on so many fronts over the years ... progress which is currently being eroded.

20. FEAR QUOTES:
Bertrand Russell: "Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd."

Dorothy Thompson: "There is nothing to fear except the persistent refusal to find out the truth, the persistent refusal to analyze the causes of happenings."

Thomas Jefferson: "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear."

Eric Hoffer: "You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you. "

Eleanor Roosevelt: "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."

43,134 people die every year in the USA from transportation accidents which is far more than at 911 and all the other acts of terror combined. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=990CEEDE1530F935A35754C0A963958260

Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 09:37 PM by Mr_Spock

Every day I describe to my coworkers another example of how Republicans are simple-minded cowards who resemble Chicken Little.

The sky ain't falling. Nuclear holocaust was always a threat growing up - that would make the sky fall.

This "threat" is like the threat that you might die laughing from being tickled too much. Yeah, too much of anything will kill you, and I've had my fill of fear for one lifetime.

Go prey on the young and the weak Mr. Bush, though the polls say the young just aren't afraid. Guess that just leaves the weak.
