My wife sent me an invite to gather.com late last night. I finally took advantage of it this morning and posted a couple of my old DU Journal entries.
The reception was great! Yeah, there are some nitwit Cons on the site, but, so far, they haven't waded in to comment on my essays. But I've gotten some great responses! One actually said that it was commentary like mine that swayed him to look at the "other side," or something like that.
It was my "Dear Average Republican" essay to which he was responding.
That's a nice feeling, to read something like that on that essay in particular. That is, after all, why I wrote it. I'm happy as hell to get it from DUers, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to throw it out into the wild world and see what happens.
Gather.com is sorta like myspace for grownups. It's another place for me to promote my work (and believe me, an author's work doesn't begin and end with writing. Promotion is just as important, and more of a pain in the neck, if you ask me. But without it, you're spinning your wheels.
Anyone want to check out what I've posted there and the responses-- Please do.
