How does one "prove" that you have liquid medicine or baby formula?
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 07:58 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
This from our local news website, regarding flying out of DIA:

These banned liquids and gels include, but are not limited to: beverages, shampoo, lotions, creams, toothpaste and hair gel. These items can still be purchased at stores on the concourses, however even these purchased items will not be permitted on the planes.

Only liquid medications and baby formula is exempt from the ban, but passengers with these items should be prepared to provide evidence of the contents of the containers

edited to add: Presumably, the labels and containers may not be convincing enough. I keep thinking of the woman who described having to drink breast milk she had pumped before boarding a plane (as seen in F9/11).

Are you going to have to eat the powder, or drink an extra dose of your liquid medicine?

11. That wouldn't do anything
A fanatic wouldn't expect to get out alive, anyway. A fanatic would be perfectly happy to drink a little explosive in the hopes it wouldn't kill him/her before the plane got up into the air.

Eventually, flying is going to be such a pain in the ass that nobody's going to want to do it any more. Vacation? Drive, take a train, or do relaxation at home. The airways will be full of businessmen and private jets for the rich. The rest of us will just have to stay put.

I do wish these fanatics had better aim, like the little private jets at the little private airports around the country. Going after worker bees will disturb the hive. Going after queen bees will destroy it.

5. British ITV (ITN?) news said the parent had to taste the formula or milk
in front of the security officer. I suppose the theory is that one would not drink liquid explosive components that had been put in a baby bottle or other container.

13. It appears from all this distrust, it would be better is none of us
traveled- on public transportation. There has got to be a new direction. Transportation industry better start treating travelers like welcomed guests instead of terrorist.

8. So, you can't take "beverages" on board, even though one could easily
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 08:04 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
drink them in front of the TSA folks, since that's what a beverage is for!

Yet, you gotta eat the baby formula or gulp the liquid medication to the satisfaction of the screener.

15. Would *LOVE* to try to fly as a diabetic, right now
Prove it's insulin? No, I'm not going to take an extra injection, particularly when I can't bring a) my electronic blood gluose testing meter or b) my glucose tablets with me onto the plane, both of which are necessary that I carry for my own medical safety. I don't go anywhere without those. I guess right now, I just don't fly anywhere.
