It's out on dvd now. Rent it. Buy it.

I woke up to 5 CNN "Breaking news" alerts in my inbox. Fuck! I'm tired of living this way. I'm sick and tired of TerrA. We work all our lives in pursuit of happiness and we're made to be pawns of motherfuckers who'll never honestly give a shit about our lives. We're all just collateral damage.

We seriously need to get our shit together and stop waiting for these so called "leaders" to save us. THEY'RE NOT GOING TO.

What's happening today that they don't want us to notice?

for that matter. They've been working on us for years. Perhaps all this terra-terra today is about what we're supposed to remember tomorrow or a week from now.

oh well it came in 18th highest box office this year. Apparently you are in the minority.

you might purchase the graphic novel and read that. It's far more unsettling and intersting.

V for Vendetta is like Red Dawn for liberals - confirms a child like mythologized view of our belief system, and so is enjoyable for us.

It is well made, and has some great scenes, though.

Brave New World is better and closer to what we are actually experiencing here in the United States.

to the world of Terry Gilliam's Brazil, than Orwell, but then again maybe a mix of both.

I especially enjoyed what V did to Prothero (the Limbaugh-like propaganda guy, the Voice of Fate) in the graphic novel.

It does explain a few things that the movie does not.

Sure, it's looks like an infomercial for Soldier Of Fortune/NRA, but it's still a pretty decent flick.

I have watched it 4 times now and I see no justification for the R rating at all. No sex and the violence doesn't even equal the gruesome level of some scream flicks I have seen rated PG-13.

I can only guess it was done so the young impressionable crowd is not targeted. Too bad, I let my 12 year old boy see it with me.

I mean really, Evey gets tortured, and V blows up a bunch of shit - not to mention the graphic knife fighting scenes.

Inspiring. It represents not where we are at now, but where we can end up. This movie was emotionally overpowering and I found myself moved to tears by Natalie Portman's last line. A great, moving ending. I was also very moved by the backstory of the lesbian couple. I have been a supporter of gay/lesbian rights, but maybe in an abstract way. The love this couple had for one another really went to my heart.

If you have not seen this movie, please see it and watch it again and again. There is a lot of great dialog that may take more than one viewing to catch. Use the subtitles, but watch it again anyways.

I did have a grumbly about the torture scene that I wanted to ask, I but don't want to be a spoiler for anyone left who hasn't seen it.

a simplistic, feel good morality tale - V was a preposterous cartoon figure with endless financing, endless technical knowledge, endless access to subway train parts, endless strength, etc.

how exactly does a train packed with explosived destroy a 4 block long building so that it looks like a controlled demolition, complete with FIREWORKS?

it was entertaining, but not particularly insightful or edifying. just like the matrix. it won't stick with you like true art.

It worked on many levels and when viewed with a critical eye, one might appreciate that the major antagonists and protagonists were all a mixture of conflicting complex emotions that left it up to the viewer to decide.

Add to that the wonderful dialogue in V's alliterations, I felt it was a kick-ass (sorry for the technical term there) movie.
