How newsworthy ?

A plane almost crashed. Is that news? Arabs are planning to bomb planes? Is that news? How much coverage should a "possible" event get as opposed to a "real" event? If a bomb had actually gone off in midair, how much coverage would that deserve? Is the "media" working as a political propagandist in the way they cover this story? Are they assisting the agenda of a political Party by exaggerating and exploiting events that never happened but were only planned? Somewhere, someone, is planning a way to get a nuclear weapon into NYC? How do we know? We can only take the word of the British or the American government on the matter. Is the news media being used by politicians or are they purposely assisting certain politicians with their agenda?

The media plays stories that sell. They're a business first and foremost.
