This liquids thing is nothing new
Not only was it a part of the plan of "Operation Bojinka"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oplan_Bojinka

Four years ago I had this happen to me.

At the time I traveled a lot more than I do now. I learned in my travels that it is a good idea to have some food with you, take your own headphones (the movie is then free), and something I learned from "Lilly" on a flight back from Connecticut B.Y.O.B.

Well I was going through security like usual and the screener stopped me and asked what was in my bag. I told her and she said "Take a sip"

"huh?" I said. It was 10 AM (a 12:00 flight)

"take a sip"

So I proceeded to take a draw off the halfpint in my bag.

This is really nothing new but I guess those days are over.

1. Actually it is really, really nothing new.
:-) On a flight we were taking in 1980, my then 9-year-old son packed his own carryon bag and put a large bottle of mouthwash in it. He put the bag on the x-ray machine and he was pulled out of line and asked what was in the bottle. Mouthwash was the answer, and he had to take off the cap and the security lady sniffed the contents.

It was a 16-ounce bottle of mouthwash. Don't ask!! This kid has always been fanatic about keeping his teeth and mouth and body clean.

3. Shortly after 9/11/01 I flew home
with a bottle of tequila my friend had given me on the trip. And a lighter.

Not only would the tequila have started a nice cabin fire, the bottle would have made an excellent weapon if broken properly.

I'm still trying to figure out, however, how one could disrupt a flight using nail clippers.

7. Leave enough fingernail clippings and the dust mites will, over...
...about 15 years, grow to unmanagible proportions in the cabin's ecosystem. Given the fact that they're exposed to harsh living conditions in the artificial environment and exposed to a higher frequency of cosmic rays because of the altitude, it's just a matter of time before those little fuckers grow a trigger-pincer and start some shit.

See, the Boosh administration is working on like fourteen-different levels to protect us from threats.
