Top Democrats drop support of Lieberman
Even so, top Senate Democrats, including John Kerry and Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, Harry Reid of Nevada, Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey and Chuck Schumer of New York, said they supported Lamont as the duly elected choice of Connecticut's Democratic voters.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton stopped short of calling on Lieberman to quit the race but urged the senator to "search his conscience and decide what is best for Connecticut and for the Democratic Party."

Lieberman said he was not bothered by losing the support of his colleagues, noting he lost the primary even with their backing. "In the end, the people make up their own minds, and this is going to be a people's campaign," he said.

5. Add John Edwards, who was the first to call Lamont & also Chris Dodd
Edwards, as reported in several articles, was the first to call Lamont after the results came in on Tuesday.

From the NYTimes:

"Mr. Lamont said that former Senator John Edwards, the Democrats’ vice presidential nominee in 2004, was the first Democratic leader to call him last night."

Source - http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/09/nyregion/09campaign.html?_r=1&ei=5094&en=f5e3cb38fb8e509e&hp=&ex=1155182400&adxnnl=1&partner=homepage&adxnnlx=1155101804-Rfg7rHHTWIi1KGQWYlg41A&oref=slogin

I believe Evan Bayh expressed his support for Lamont too.

And, how can one forgot Chris Dodd, who held a unity meeting with Lamont and all CT democratic officials.

Good for all of them.

9. "In the end, the people make up their own minds..."
Um, Joey?? They've already done that. In case you missed it, you lost. Now I don't understand your desperation to hold on to your job, but there must be some selfish motivation for publicly dismantling your reputation, braying and whining like a 3 year old that can't have his way, and generally behaving like, well, a Republican. There comes a time when you have to ask yourself, 'Is it worth it?' The time for a 'No' to this question has already come and gone, Joe. It won't get any better from here on out.

What you don't seem to have taken into consideration is the fact that changing the letter next to your name is not going to make your voting record go away. The damage is done. Your constituents are well aware of your acts of betrayal and have voiced their displeasure at the polls.

So, you have to ask yourself: do you want to be remembered as someone who once did some good and decent things as a public servant? Or would you rather drag this out and be remembered as the power-mad, do-anything-to-get-elected, money-grubbing lunatic who attempted to circumvent and defy your own people in your own best interest? Hmmm?
