What's wrong with being skeptical about this latest terrorist threat?
After all, nothing happened. At least, not yet? Why should we feel inclined to believe that everything the government and the M$N are saying is true? Granted, the "terrorists" have every right to hate us and there is good reason to believe they could resort to an attack such as we have been advised.

However, to suggest that they were going to kill us by the thousands with shampoo and hydrogen peroxide and other toiletries does stretch the imagination. If they are this desperate to kill us, that they must resort to VO5, then why is everybody shaking like a dog shitting a peach seed? If this is all they have, and it has been "foiled", isn't all this an over-reaction by everyone?

We can just see 3 or 4 swarthy males going into a bathroom on a plane, setting up their little labratories with Bunsen burners or whatever, and mixing their explosives as everyone else on the plane naps on their pillows and eats peanuts...It all sounds so incredible. Not to be skeptical is what I cannot understand...

3. I am really curious if this is factually possible.
is there actually a "gel like explosive" stable enough to be transported and where 12-16 oz of it transported in a shampoo bottle and then mixed with gatorade would be strong enough to take down a plane?

I am not a munitions expert so I'm definately curious to find out about that.

7. Yes, it is possible
I'm not a munitions expert either but I know enough about chemical explosives to be certain that it is feasible.

10. But did they have any of it?
From what I've read so far today, they never got beyond the "talking about it" phase.

We'll learn the truth soon enough.

4. Exactly. We have every reason to be dismissive.
Sure, there may be something to this "foiled terrorist plot." Just because they are constantly pissing on our feet and telling us it's raining doesn't mean that it can't actually rain.

But that's not the real issue here. The issue is not whether or not this plot is as full of crap as the MIAMI SEVEN. The real issue is that the Bush administration has once again teamed with our breathless chicken little corporate media to hype a "TERRA TERRA TERRA" story to kingdom come for strictly political reasons.

Scotland Yard may or may not have caught a bunch of dangerous would-be terrorists, and the timing of this may or may not have been orchestrated to the day. But there is one thing we know for sure, and that is that BushCo yelling "CODE RED! CODE RED! CODE RED!" about this already foiled plot was and is a calculated PR gambit. And our corporate media is, once again, more than happy to play Charlie Brown to BushCo's "TERRA ALERT" Lucy football.

6. think about it
apparently they UK acted on US intelligence (which I think of as an oxymoron now). Think of all of the so-called terra plots based on US intelligence that have turned out to be totally baseless. There are many but the announcement from ashcroft about a huge terra plot when he was in Russia that was bogus stands out in my mind.

Combine that with the lack of funding for protecting our borders, ports, shipping containers. The huge gaps in screenings at airports. The lack of funding for first responders. The Billions in HS $$ that went into the pockets of people instead of the protection of our citizens.

Add to that the bush administration has made it Crystal Clear they do not give a fuck about us. Also the chimp makes an appearance to make a statement THE SAME DAY! While on vacation. Remember Katrina?

We have literally dozens of reasons not to believe them At All!

I agree! It would seem we should be way ahead of 9/11 and finished with those early days of "duct tape and plastic." What the Hell have THEY DONE with ALL OUR MONEY to fight TERRORISM? They seem to have done nothing but maybe give Chertoff another "vacation house" and who knows what the hell else has happened to our money.

Having to throw out deoderant, makeup, water bottles, toothpaste and the rest seems to say we have REGRESSED not moven forward with comprehensive plan for the "coming terror attacks" that will be numerous given how the BushBot Neo-Cons have Fucked UP! :nuke:

13. One must be skepical with the current administration, they've lied before
even the 9-11 report wasn't allowed to be put out before the election when in reality it was more reason to be released to the public!

14. Skeptical is one thing
Denying, with no proof, that anything was about to happen is another. And that is what has been happening here. I don't think Bushco would shut down air travel etc. without at least some reason, unless they were absolutely desperate. If this had happened in October, I would be mucho suspicious. For now, I think the plot makes a lot of sense, and it was something I had thought about a long time ago (and didn't mention online, for obvious reasons).

I'd let this play itself out. Just because Smirk is a fascist doesn't mean some of his enemies don't hate you and me too.

We'll find out if there was a plot when the suspects are given a fair trial and their guilt or innocence is determined?

15. I take everything like that with a grain of salt
It gives the media something to talk about, and get the attention away from how bad we the people hate Bush's wars. They won't talk about the big win with regard to Lamont. I believe that's why there is so much interest and bad-mouthing going on about Lieberman's loss. It brings out the fact that people are so fed up with the war that they were able to unseat a long time Senator, because of his war-stance and his "closeness" with George Bush.

20. I hear ya. The reaction round here by some is bizarre.
Because the whole story smells in more ways than one! :eyes:

It's been like, what? A week or so since the Washington Post published that article about the 9/11 commission? Which proved that the commission curtailed their investigation of what has been known as an attack by "terrorists" on 9/11/2001? Why did they not investigate thoroughly? What else did they NOT investigate?!

You would think that article alone would have made the naysayers of LIHOP/MIHOP around DU at least question every thing instead of buying into MORE of the propaganda the corporate media & * Co dishes out! But the denial is some people is so strong that they rather believe in those who are benefiting from the terror rather than peal back the layers to see what's festering under the surface.
