In defense of Gatorade
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 03:37 PM by Kutjara
The term 'a British version of Gatorade' is being bandied about in connection with the current 'terrorist plot.' I've done a bit of googling and think the actual product is Lucozade, a glucose drink sold almost exclusively in the UK. It is a carbonated beverage, bright yellow in color, and contains more glucose than the average Hollywood blockbuster. Gatorade, on the other hand, is made from...uh...er...alligators, probably, and isn't carbonated and is green.

So not a British version of Gatorade at all, really.

Thank you for your time.

7. They hate us for our gatorade
And who can blame them?

You are either for gatorade, or you are against it.

8. Kutjara, the minute I got home today and started reading the
reports here on DU, I knew it was Lucozade everyone was referring to.

My husband drinks it all the time. It's very popular among the Irish exiles here in the US. They all claim it's great for a hangover... :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

It's actually orange in color not yellow, but as you said full of sugar and made with carbonated water. It's far too sweet for my tastes...

Actually, I really should get to our local Irish import store and buy a case for Mr. Wonderful. I'm sure it'll become a "banned substance" shortly.

9. I'm tired of all the attacks on Gatorade....... We Gators...
like the stuff. Not necessarily to drink but it has provided hundreds of millions of dollars toward The University of Florida endowment since Dr. Robert Cade invented the stuff back in about 1966.

So now the terrorists are trying to hijack our meal ticket. And what about the Gatorade bath the coach gets at games end. That's as American as Ned Lamont, after all.

BTW, all our rivals tried to launch there own Gatorade type drink years ago because they were too embarrassed to have a barrel of Gatorade sitting on their sideline. Georgia U. tried "Bulldog Punch." And how'd that work out? FSU did something similar... Like, "Semi-moron Slurp." They've all given up and use Gatorade now days.
