Simple way to turn around 'soft on defense' charge

Invading Iraq certainly didn't reduce terrorism or hatred of America, so who exactly is benefiting from it that Republicans refuse to pullout and Democrats mostly make general noises about redeploying?

Do you think we are safer because we gave Iraq's oil to American companies and restructured their oil industry to those companies liking? Gen. Garner, the first guy we sent over to rule Iraq said that would incite an insurgency. Can you tell me in what sense he was wrong? Do you think Iraqis are so stupid they don't know when people are stealing from them?
