If they found out the plan at the last minute that means they got lucky and they're as fucking incompetent as they were the day before Bush failed to prevent 9/11.

US Democrats say plot shows Iraq war a diversion

WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Prominent Democrats said on Thursday a foiled plot in Britain to blow up U.S.-bound planes showed the Bush administration's pursuit of war in Iraq had diverted resources from the bigger threat of terrorism and made the danger worse.

...

"Five years after 9-11, it is clear that our misguided policies are making America more hated in the world and making the war on terrorism harder to win," Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts said.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada said Bush and Congress needed to change course in Iraq and ensure Americans are protected around the world.

"The Iraq war has diverted our focus and more than $300 billion in resources from the war on terrorism and has created a rallying cry for international terrorists," Reid said.

4. You also need to pay attention . .
. . to the fact it was Scotland Yard, not Homeland Security that discovered the group and tracked them for a year. Of course, US Homeland Security was made aware of this. But this is the Brit's job going down.

6. THEY didn't foil the plot, the Brits did. The Bush cabal found out
about it on Friday.

7. Bush always said that the war on terror was a matter of law enforcement.
Oh, wait. Never mind.

8. Note re: Scotland Yard -
I'm pretty sure it's MI5 and MI6 who provided the intelligence on this one (and also CIA and ISI).

Scotland Yard just acts on the intelligence they receive from these agencies.
