Maybe the Terror Plot *DID Succeed*
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 09:38 PM by Freedom_Aflaim
Maybe, their plan is to "plan" bombing 10 aircraft, and do so in such a way that it is picked up on by eavesdropping government spies.

The plan succeeds when the government reacts in an irrational way, cripples the airline industry and drives the economy futher into the ground. (Oh by the way, they didnt really build the bombs, they just wanted everyone to think they were going to)

If that was the plan. It succeeded.

15. Because no one will remember this in a few months.
If they had actually bombed the planes they would have actually accomplished everything listed in the OP and gained prestige.

17. Hard to prove a negative, isn't it? I see what you mean
Acts give longer memory than not having it happen and fading from memory? How do they prove this was going to happen and didn't? I am hoping they can, otherwise we will not know if it was another crying wolf or not, and people will assume it was so whether it was or not.

3. Success as defined by OBL himself...
"So we are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah.

That being said, those who say that al-Qaida has won against the administration in the White House or that the administration has lost in this war have not been precise, because when one scrutinises the results, one cannot say that al-Qaida is the sole factor in achieving those spectacular gains.

Rather, the policy of the White House that demands the opening of war fronts to keep busy their various corporations - whether they be working in the field of arms or oil or reconstruction - has helped al-Qaida to achieve these enormous results.

And so it has appeared to some analysts and diplomats that the White House and us are playing as one team towards the economic goals of the United States, even if the intentions differ."

You didn't hear that on CNN because their site was censored but that's from the November '04 tape.

(Full transcript on al-Jazeera website).

13. Bush and Osama - a mutually enabling, co-dependent couple that
loves to hate each other.

Without Bush and his GWOT, we wouldn't be making Osama's predictions come true and creating the next generation of radical, western-hating Muslims.

Without Osama and terrorism, Bush would have to run on his domestic record.

5. Absolutely!
I said it so here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1871663&mesg_id=1871663

And it's true - the fuckin' terrorists don't have to blow anything up any more. They've won. All they have to do is let one of their guys, or a group of them, get "caught" while "planning a bombing", and they know we'll go totally fucking overboard and destroy ourselves in an attempt to keep them from destroying us.

I bet we'll see more of this. Dropped hints, bogus plans getting mailed to the police, false leads and red herrings and wild goose chases everywhere.

The terrorists don't even have to spend any money any more. They can just sit back, send the occasional fax or mail a drawing or something, and we'll destroy our economies and our freedoms and everything good about us in order to "defeat" them in a paranoid, panicked, frenzy.

9. So who's fault is this...
We know the answer, of course. With elections coming up, we MUST drive home the fact that we are no safer now than we were before 9/11. We must also drive home the fact that our country is falling apart...health care, education, economy, poverty, shrinking middle class... And whose fault??? Vote for change.

11. The terrorists' plan is to instill fear into the target population.
Their biggest & best ally in this is George W Bush.
