Greta Van Susteren just said that it was Britain's 9/11 and that the number of planes was now 5, not 10 (as was previously reported). And they said it had the "hallmarks of Al-Queda". Does this sound like they are equivocating and the story is being "modified"?

6. I believe it is 12 planes targetting 5 U.S. cities--
http://www.guardian.co.uk/terrorism/story/0,,1842272,00.html

British suicide bombers were within days of blowing up 12 passenger jets above five US cities in an unprecedented terrorist attack designed to commit "mass murder on an unimaginable scale", counterterrorism sources claimed last night.

<snip>

US officials said the bombers had been seeking to hit New York, Washington, San Francisco, Boston and Los Angeles. Other airlines targeted were thought to be United, American and Continental.

<more>

For this stuff I would not bother with U.S. media but go straight to one of the British online sources. It was their bust, after all.

12. Nope--the plan was to blow them up
once they were over major cities. No one said these guys needed to rush things. They would have gotten maximum and immediate attention by biding their time.

9. UPDATE/ Correction
Greta just held up a copy of The Times with a headline reading "Five Planes" (sorry I didn't get the whole thing.) She explained that there were to be two waves of explosions, of 5 planes each, so a total of 10 planes.
