The tragedy of this plot to blow up planes...

If this much attention had been paid by the administration pre-9/11 thousands of lives would have been saved. It's also tragic because the repukes will strap this on their backs to show off in order to garner political points(even though this was a British investigation). Another reason this is tragic...the previous 'plots' which have turned into practically nothing gave many reason to doubt the veracity of the claims being made in this case.

And the biggest tragedy is...the US continues to ignore the root cause of ME terrorism and has off and on for years. The only recent president who understood what needed to be done to at least take a bit of the fire out of the terrorists was Clinton. He saw that a true and lasting peace in the ME would go a long way in dealing with this world-wide threat. Even if peace came tomorrow, terrorism will continue to haunt the United States for years to come because of Iraq.

As has been said by many here at DU...our grandchildren will be paying for this in more than just money.

It's a tragedy that no one has learned the lessons of the past.

These guys are religious zealots. That's the root cause. They see Israel and the USA as immoral, decadent societies that have tainted the Middle-East.

I don't know about you, but I like drinking, gambling, and the separation of church and state. I don't think I should be killed for that.
