Blind Quaker assailed at protest
This happened in my home town. :grr:

A legally-blind Quaker woman holding a peace sign became an unexpected target of aggression at a Salinas vigil this past weekend.

Pacific Grove resident Janet Wilson, 52, was demonstrating at a weekly peace vigil at the corner of Blanco Road and South Main Street on Saturday when a tall man pulled over his camouflage-painted Humvee and started yelling in her face.

After she refused to give him her sign, Wilson said, the man tore it out of her hands, bent the peace symbol and broke the stick into pieces.

did not hit back. She understands the strength of non-violence. As more of these incidents happen and are reported, more people become sympathetic to the cause of peace-its like when the Birmingham police chief set dogs and sprayed water hoses on the demonstrators there back in the '60s. They remained peaceful, and it changed many a person's mind as to the validity of the Civil Rights movement.

I think that lady has more vision than the man who destroyed her sign.
