sibel: Brewster Jennings investigating nukes in 4 countries
i transcribed another Sibel Edmonds interview
(crossposted with links at http://wotisitgood4.blogspot.com/2006/08/sibel-brewster-jennings-investigating.html)

highlights:
1. Brewster Jennings investigating nukes in 4 countries
2. Turkey has played a major role, and still is playing a major role in nuclear black-market activities

Sibel: ... A week after Sep 11, in 2001, I started working for the FBI and immediately, within the first 2 months, I came across some major cases that were being covered up. Some of them had to do with certain Counter-Intelligence information - received under Counter-Intelligence operations that were 100% related to terrorist activities that occurred before Sep 11, and on Sep 11. They were not being transferred to the Counter-Terrorism division because of the pressure from the Pentagon and the State Department - they claimed that this would hurt certain sensitive diplomatic relations. For example - if those countries that their people were involved in some way happened to be from Pakistan, or Saudi Arabia, or Turkey, or some of these Central Asian countries - and they were not part of this so-called 'Axis of Evil' - they didn't want to pursue those leads and those investigations - because they were our so-called allies.

Also, another important case that I stumbled upon had to do with certain translators who were granted Top Secret clearance and without having their background investigation done - and later on, in one case at least, we found out that this individual (ed: i presume this is Melek Can Dickerson) actually used to work for one of the top targets of FBI Counter-Terrorism investigation (ed - I presume Sibel is talking about the ATC) . And she had ongoing relationships with those targets - and somehow she was given the CSD (ed : i think this is a security clearance, I may have misheard the acronym) and was in charge of translating information, raw data, raw intelligence, coming from those targets!

And we (myself and the agents working on these cases) reported this to the FBI Head-Quarters - and instead of investigating this espionage case, they just wanted to cover it up. Remember, this was right after this big scandal with Robert Hanssen's case and the FBI didn't want to face any scandal or embarrassment saying that they hadn't fixed their internal security systems, and that they were allowing actual targets of investigations to actually obtaining jobs with the FBI!

So - to make a long story shorter - I ended up being the messenger who delivered these reports that the FBI didn't want to hear anything about, and the State Department and the Pentagon didn't want any of these issues or cases to become public - so instead of investigating these cases and pursuing these cases, they chose to come after me instead.

(SNIP)

...Here I am, four and half years later, with the Congress that has accepted this illegal gag order so willingly, with the courts refusing to fulfill their responsibility under our Constitution and with the Main Media not really pursuing these important issues that have implications for all of us. I remember getting outside of this Court, after we were excluded from the hearings when the government argued its case and we the plaintiffs - my attorneys and I - had to leave the courtroom while the government argued it's case. I came out of the court, and to the few reporters who were there, I said:

'You think this is about one case, about one whistleblower, one FBI translator - this is about all of you. If they get away with this States Secret Privilege, and they are successful with this, they're going to come after you.'

And they are going to go after a lot of other people with this States Secret Privilege. I was the first person of this States Secrets Privilege. Since my case, this administration has invoked the States Secrets Privilege twenty four times! Recently on this NSA illegal eavesdropping case, on the illegal detaining of this German citizen, in this case in Canada where they held this person illegally, and also they have been going after reporters for reporting what they are supposed to be reporting. So what I told these reporters two years ago, it's coming true and we are seeing the results of what they started four years ago, with one case, today. Right now.

(SNIP)

Ashcroft was successful in preventing the court procedures from moving forward, so once the court issued their decision saying that:

"Well, the government is saying that even if Ms Edmonds is right in her allegations, the issues involved would hurt certain US sensitive diplomatic relations and US foreign business relations"

And I want to emphasize this. I am being gagged, my due process has been taken away, and I was fired - in order to preserve certain US-foreign business relations. And the court just says 'we have to agree'!

Guy James: Someone sent me an email when I announced that you were going to be on the program, and they sent me an article which says:

'Long after we all forget Plame and Wilson and Clarke, and the other high level national security whistleblowers, Edmonds story will be the one I still want to hear.'

and it goes on to mention the American Turkish Council - and Valerie Plame and Ambassador Wilson's involvement in that - do you know anything about that?

Sibel: Well - I can provide you with some information that has already become public via this information being provided to this Vanity Fair reporter, David Rose, by certain people within the Congress, and the FBI, and... certain Congressional officials, and current FBI agents, familiar with the case, they told the magazine that some of these organizations that were involved in these illegal activities, related to the September 11 attacks, were the American Turkish Council (ATC), which is a lobbying firm here in Washington DC, for Turkey and Central Asian countries, and another organization called the American Turkish Association (ATA).

Interestingly enough, that is where Valerie Plame met her husband, Joe Wilson, in 1997. She went to one of the functions held in Washington DC as an analyst for Brewster Jennings, and we don't know why she was there, but we know that Turkey has played a major role, and still is playing a major role in nuclear black-market activities. They use their access here in the US, via people they have on the payroll from several nuclear agencies - and also some of their people within the Pentagon, and then they sell it to the highest bidder!

That highest bidder can be Pakistan, or it can be North Korea - in some cases, certain Turkish officials - officials! - were arrested in 2000 for providing this information and aiding Libya - in their nuclear black-market activities. So that is public information - and also, individuals such as Mark Grossman - who used to the be Ambassador in Turkey in the 1990's and later the assistant deputy secretary in the State Department - and his involvement with the ATC, and some of these Turkish organiations, and also the fact that Richard Perle and Douglas Feith - they established, in 1989, this lobbying group called the International Advisors Inc - IAI. They registered as foreign agents for Turkey, and they registered with the State Department as a foreign agent for Turkey, and this was during the time that Perle was still working for the Pentagon - and he had this huge conflict of interest.

And the fact that through this lobbying firm, they provided a lot of classified information to both Turkey and Israel - and of course, Larry Franklin's involvement in these activities, which has not yet really become public.

And again, if this case were to move forward, we would have a lot of this information becoming public and our people would know about these individuals, and their roles in terms of not serving our country, but having their loyalties to other - either to governments, or in certain cases, just with greed and the large fees that they have obtained from these individuals

Guy James: Yeah - the Larry Franklin case having to do with the passing of sensitive information to the Israelis. We don't have a lot of time left - but you mentioned Valerie Plame and Brewster Jennings. We know, or at least we think that we know, that Brewster Jennings was involved with counter-nuclear-proliferation involving Iran

Sibel: Correct - well - not only Iran. I'm not at any liberty to say, but we are looking at several countries. It's not only Iran. You are looking at least at four countries.

And (before we go) I hope that you will mention the recent activities in Congress - by people like Senator Santorum and Conrad Burns and Senator Bond who are trying to make these gag orders on whistleblowers worse by passing this legislation on whistleblowers that will make it illegal for intelligence agencies and law enforcement employees to talk to the press, or even go to Congress and disclose information about government waste, fraud and abuse.

These are critical times, and I hope that we can cover these important issues when they are sending this chilling message to any potential whistleblowers saying that 'we are going to come after you - and we're going to do so lawfully by having these so-called senators passing laws legitimizing retaliation against whistleblowers

Guy James: Well - that's the idea - to make everything as secretive as possible so that they can do anything they want to do. Your website - NSWBC.org

Sibel: Correct that's our organizations website - and my personal website is justacitizen.com

A lot of strange bedfellows were made by Khashoggi, Ledeen and the BFEE during the Iran-Contra-Ed Wilson era. A lot of money and suffering continue to be made.

7. Just remember, Plame IS not Brewster Jennings
Plame, not B and J as a whole, was tracking Iran. Argh, I wish people would read the actual article.

11. Yes, I think Sibel is being cautious...
...she does not say she knows why Valerie Plame met Joe Wilson at a Turkish function.

Ultimately, it's not important for Sibel's story what Plame herself was involved. What IS important is that Brewster Jennings was tracking nuclear black market activities through Turkey: which would confirm Sibel's allegations that our "friend" Turkey is selling some important secrets on the black market.

26. With respect, I disagree...
It is important because the right wing noise machine picks up this kind of stuff and uses it as part of its smear tactics. I think it is imperative that people discuss speculation and what is known and considered fact as two separate things and that people understand that this is not one big theory of everything. Sibel holds one olive in a salad. Plame holds some of the lettuce, but a small fraction of it on on side of the bowl. Sibel's olive is on the other side of the salad bowl, on a whole other type of lettuce, sitting on a tomato even. That is how this all relates.:)

12. Of course. But, there's a bigger picture here.
LaLa -

Of course - BJ had dozens of people working on various projects. Some were more specific to certain countries than others. But, Sibel's point is quite valid -- if I'm correct about what she's hinting at -- all nuclear networks are multinational. An Iran specialist would have to also be aware of ties to Pakistan, Turkey, China, Russia and other proliferation sources, because that's where the technology and components have flowed from, or in the case of Turkey, through. Then there are the biggest brokers, moneymen and enablers located in Washington, Bern and Riyadh which she also alludes to.

If your sources say that Plame's focus at BJ during the time she was outed was Iran, I will accept that. No reason to doubt it, and it raises the very interesting issue of Larry Franklin's salting Pentagon files with Iran WMD (dis)information(?) suggested by Naor Gilon, then the Mossad Chief of Station in Washington. This, I've concluded, was Track II of the same operation that stovepiped the Niger Yellowcake forgery through OSP to OVP that found its way into the 2003 State of Union and UN addresses. What Sibel seems to be saying about Franklin also supports a conclusion that Israel was involved in setting up Iraq and Iran for attack. My guess would be that Plame, along with her husband, was involved in debunking the case being assembled by the neocons for preemptive war with both countries.

But, there are too many multinational ties to assume -- without somewhat missing the larger picture -- that Plame's work was restricted to Iran.

- Mark

16. Right On
There is more into this; it is not limited to Iran. In fact, Iran was not the primary target. Iran's activities were mainly limited to 'Russia' most of which took place between 1993-1998.

18. Actually
even if her work was only focused on Iran, it makes little difference ..... because once she was exposed by the OVP/OSP/WHIG, all of B.J. was completely compromised.

24. Right, but I think they are trying
To figure out what Sibel is talking about when she is talking about these networks. And unfortunately, I think much confusion has gone around because people assume that both the front company and one of its many agents are one and the same. And Sibel confuses the issue b even bringing up Plame. She should discuss B and J, for sure, but she needs to be more clear on how Plame and her focus and B and J and other teams, are very different things and have very different focal points.

But yes, I totally agree with your point. The whole front, which took some 20 years to build, was outed when one was exposed. The damage was extensive.

27. I agree.
Frequently people see agencies in generic terms. But, without question, individuals with have very specific areas of focus. All of the available evidence that I am aware of indicates VP's focus wasIran. Some confusion may be the result of reports that she was supervising other individuals. While this may be true, it is not safe to say that supervision would be limited to individiduals at B.J., nor would it imply that supervision includes operations beyond a specific scope.

The relationship between individuals and even the major scandals does exist, of course. I think that Mark is correct in naming Franklin, just as he could mention Wurmser. Likewise, I think you are correct in noting that those relationships are not always either direct or simple. Combining these two thoughts, we see how wide-spread and entrenched the corruption is .... and how much damage a single individual can do.

21. I think you make an interesting point on Franklin...
The last sentence is not accurate. But the Franklin point is interesting. I suggest you continue in that direction. Your take on what a specialist would know or not know, what they would be part of or not part of, is not true for this picture. You are assuming a unified theory where there is none. Things are compartmentalized far too much. There are international networks, but they are not unified nor are they in agreement even when they are allied. It is just not that simple and not remotely that all encompassing.

Go back to my original piece and read about what I say with regard to AQ Kahn and the time frame and what we have since learned. There is no way of saying this without saying too much, but Plame was simply focused on Iran.

By the way, the ATC party where Wilson met Plame was a DC social event of large scale. They are a HUGE lobby! All of DC was there, not just Plame and Wilson. In addition, Plame did not go "as an energy annalist from Brewster Jennings." She went as a DC person and when asked, told her cover story, that she was an energy analyst. This event is made to seem as though the two had met at some smallish quiet room and did some domestic counter terrorism surveillance of the event. This was a very big Washington society event. Just like AIPAC events are.

Neither organization as a whole is corrupt, but key people in both are very corrupt and use the cover of the organization to gain access to people in positions of consequence. So this is not relevant and confuses the issues.

I think, as I have said, the Franklin aspect is interesting. You should follow that line of questions, not this line as you will not likely learn more given the nature of the story (unless CIA declassifies the after action report) and the speculation on this will simply add to disinformation already out. Sibel can point to things, but she is gagged on clarifying her point. Focus on what she, herself directly knows and can know given her time at the agency, not what she has learned since.

That is the best I can do. Hope it helps.

"Plame Wilson... was part of an operation tracking distribution and acquisition of weapons of mass destruction technology to and from Iran."
snip
"While many have speculated that Plame was involved in monitoring the nuclear proliferation black market, specifically the proliferation activities of Pakistan's nuclear "father," A.Q. Khan, intelligence sources say that her team provided only minimal support in that area, focusing almost entirely on Iran."

The MEK, an Iranian resistance group condemned for terrorism, is a common element that runs through this story. The ongoing embrace of MEK is a sign of the continued power weilded by Donald Rumsfeld and other neocons and their efforts to push the U.S. into a war with Iran.

In the summer of 2002, a then little-known Iranian exile group accused Iran of being close to building a nuclear bomb. The neocons pounced on it, and the group was praised by President Bush. This group was the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCIR), an alias front group for the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), which the U.S. State Department had designated a terrorist organization in 1997 for its fatal attacks on a variety targets, including several Americans. The NCIR was itself identified by State as a terrorist group in August 2003, but not before it had been publicly embraced, and then spurned, but later secretly embraced again by the Pentagon as a proxy army to carry out armed operations inside Iran. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7369510/site/newsweek/

It's interesting to note that at the same time that the NCIR's Iran WMD accuasations were being promoted by Pentagon neocons, Franklin and Wurmser at the OSP were also in the process of stovepiping phony Iraq WMD documents, the Niger Yellowcake forgeries. Franklin was also busily sharing classified documents with the Israeli Embassy.

Again, we see evidence of a two-track program, directed at Iraq and Iran, by the neocons to plant evidence of WMDs and their efforts to provide a premise for war. The first track of this program paid off when on March 20, 2003, the U.S. invaded Iraq.

The NCIR claimed that Iran was making nuclear materials in violation of an agreement made with the IAEC in the mid-1990s to suspend enrichment. According to an April 11 article in Newsweek, a year before the NCIR made its accusations public, the CIA had already reported that Iran had restarted enrichment activitivites at Natanz. This used centrifuges based on a design originally provided by Pakistani proliferator, A.Q. Khan.

It is entirely likely that Valerie Plame was involved in putting together the Agency's 2001 finding. The CIA reportedly concluded that Iran was at least a decade away from a viable weapons program. The neocons, brandishing NCIR materials, then counterattacked, publicly pronouncing proof Iran would have the bomb in as little as 18 months. Here is reason enough, one can reasonably conclude, for the neocon cabal to seek to destroy the CIA's Iran assessment unit, Brewster Jennings, which employed Plame.

As Larissa reported on April 13, Rumsfeld and Cambone have 3000 MEK fighters at a base in eastern Iraq near the Iran border. Since late 2005, it has been suggested the MEK has been used by DoD Special Operations in conjunction with U.S. covert operations inside Iran, where terrorist bomb attacks attributed to MEK have alledgedly killed Iranians. http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/US_outsourcing_special_operations_intelligence_gathering_0413.html

So, one sees, while the neocons failed in their earlier efforts to use the nuclear bomb-making accusations of NCIR as a pretext for preemptive attack on Iran, maybe there is a new hope in some quarters in DoD that MEK terrorism might provoke the Iranians into retaliation, finally providing a pretext for war. That campaign seems to have slowed down a bit in Lebanon, however, which was initially hailed by neocons as the start of a wider war with Iran.

The fact that this involves the same cast of characters as Plamegate and the OSP-AIPAC espionage case isn't one bit surprising. That the DoD/OVP/WHIG leadership are still at it, and the neocons continue to push the U.S. toward war with Iran is startling.

17. Turkey and the Iraq war
It highlights the extraordinary pressure brought ot bear to get Turkey to sign on to the war. Fortunately a change of government owing much to popular sentiment also largely against the war managed to unhinge that plan- which is never mentioned today. Another war front would have given the Bush invasion a lot. Of course the Kurds would have been utterly ruined in the process and we would have even more of a mess- but faster partition?- than now.

Enlightening. Turkey and other nations have immense conflicts of interest and few can clearly serve their own interests clearly on any front. The one taking advantage of the mess primarily is Bush/Cheney but breaking something is easier than making any of the parts work again. The people's voice kept Turkey's head out of the water. More power to them considering the background.

HEADLINE: Turkish businessman denies nuclear goods claim

BYLINE: By STEPHEN FIDLER

A Turkish businessman alleged to have supplied sophisticated electrical goods to Libya's secret nuclear weapons project has said he had no idea his products were destined for the country.

The businessman, Selim Alguadis, said his company's products were in free circulation and could be purchased by end-users, contractors or distributors. Mr Alguadis said the equipment provided by his company was so common that "customers are not asked what they intend to do with it".

Mr Alguadis was cited in a public report from the Malaysian inspector-general of police into the Malaysian end of a Pakistani-led clandestine network that supplied Libya, Iran and North Korea with nuclear weapons technologies, designs and expertise. He had, the report alleged, "supplied electrical cabinets and power supplier-voltage regulators to Libya".

Mr Alguadis said he had on several occasions met Abdul Qadeer Khan, the disgraced Pakistani scientist who has admitted transmitting nuclear expertise to the three countries. Mr Khan was acting as technology consultant to the Pakistani president and "the relationship has been purely social", Mr Alguadis said.

The Malaysian authorities have detained a Sri Lankan, Bukhari Sayed Abu Tahir, described by President George W. Bush as the network's chief financial officer and main money launderer. Mr Tahir owns a computer supply store in Dubai.

Turkish equipment, including centrifuge motors and frequency converters destined for Libya's now abandoned nuclear weapons programme, turned up in Tripoli in March this year aboard a ship that had sailed from Dubai in 2003. Mr Alguadis said his company, EKA, did make frequency converters but had not exported any to Dubai in 2003, and it made no motors of any kind.

22. Turkey & Nuclear Black-Market Activities
THE MOST SERIOUS SECURITY PROBLEM IN THE NEAR FUTURE
http://www.diplomaticobserver.com/news_read.asp?id=1060

A statement made on behalf of “A Group of Turkish Businessmen Carrying Out Export Activities to Iraq” took place in a web site of which access adres is http://www.iraqoftomorrow.org on 23 August 2004. The translation of the mentioned statement is presented below:

We are a group of Turkish businessmen who carry out various export activities to Arabic and Western countries. Several months ago, in Tripoli port of Libya a ship was confiscated on the grounds that it was loaded with guns. After this development, Turkey was tried to be placed in the core of this nuclear trafficking acivity in various reports of some foreign media organs. This situation deeply distressed us, the Turkish businessmen. We will never let the said distorted media reports to shade on Turkey’s image and to hinder the trade activities of Turkish businessmen who bring foreing exchange to their country. Thus, we are here to say that we believe it is our very duty to acknowledge the world public opinion and we bring the real story of the situation to light.

Libya that claimed to have abandoned the nuclear weapon adventure, was waiting fot the nuclear material which she later confessed.A ship charged with centifugal succeeded not to have been noticed and approached to Tripoli Port. The ship that Libya notified was charged with a centifugal that is a kind of nuclear material used to enrich uranium, and EU observers seized the material. After that, an investigation was held and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) prepared the report on this matter.

After an article signed by Joby Warrick had been published in Washington Post on 28 May 2004, a report by Lois Charbonnau from Vienna was broadcasted by international Reuters news agency, and Turkey became the center of attention. With this report, for the first time Turkey was involved in international nuclear trafficking. According to the report, Reuters seized the IAEA’s Libya report and an unidentified atomic energy expert stated in the report that “The material that had reached Libya in March had been collected in Turkey and had been sent to Libya through Dubai.” Following this report, all of the newspapers around the world claimed that “the centrifugal materials used to enrich uranium was assembled by Turkish engineers in Turkey.” In another words, some circles put Turkey into the target of international nuclear trafficking as a pawn.

28. Why Turkey?
The close relationship between the NATO wannabe wanting to profit from being between many different worlds and the US military is possibly another suspicious factor. Could this be a big contributing cause to these "blowback" dealings? I would not be surprised. A lot of our supposedly out of touch(on real ground level contacts) foreign Intelligence was to have our hands and our "allies" incestuously involved in traffciking, subversion, smuggling and every other supposed terror haven or occupation. supposedly this way we controlled the market, treating out and out terrorists who drifted out of the mutual orbit as renegades, but publicly as the only ones involved in any of this.

In fact the dispensing of nuclear tech is a global business in which the US seeks a monoploy, occasionally crushing the "competition" and doling out goodies as favors for favors. terrorism is not an unfortunate by-product. It also serves the nuclear business interests which by nature are deadly and violent anyway.

Turkey by geography and by alliance to the West explains their secret prominence. But have their goons recently taken over their nation wholesale? Not like ours.

32. Several multiple-use networks run through Turkey
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 01:02 PM by leveymg
As USG Counter-terrorism has itself pointed out, the same networks involved in illegal currency transfers are also useful for terrorist financing. Turkey and the Gulf countries are conduits for both. Similarly, the logistics networks that serves drug smuggling are also useful to proliferators. Turkey has an abundance of clandestine operators with pre-established global ties.

That, along with geographic and political ties with South Asian, European, ex-Soviet and American intelligence services makes Turkey a natural transhipment point for nuclear materials and technologies.

25. Just Check Out This Report by CNS
Overview of Reported Nuclear Trafficking Incidents Involving Turkey
1993-1999
http://cns.miis.edu/research/wmdme/flow/turkey/index.htm

Public reports indicate that Turkey may be a significant transshipment route for nuclear smuggling from the former Soviet Union (FSU). Eighteen nuclear trafficking incidents involving Turkey were reported between 1993 and 1999. These cases include nuclear material seized in Turkey, nuclear material interdicted en route to Turkey, and seizure of nuclear material smuggled by Turkish nationals. These cases vary in significance from outright frauds involving osmium and "red mercury," to some that reportedly involved small quantities of weapons-usable material. However, to date none of these cases have been authoritatively confirmed to involve highly enriched uranium or plutonium.

Turkish officials have denied publicly that any plutonium or highly enriched uranium has been seized in the country. According to unconfirmed open-source reports, however, Turkish authorities seized several grams of plutonium in Bursa, Turkey in 1998, which had been smuggled from either Kazakhstan or Russia. In another reported incident, police confiscated 12g of highly enriched uranium in Zurich, Switzerland on 22 January 1996, and arrested a Turkish national who was a member of a nuclear smuggling group based in Turkey. The suspect said the material was destined for Libya. Four days later, Turkish police arrested the remaining members of this alleged smuggling ring in Yalova with 1.2kg of uranium (enrichment level not reported) in their possession. Furthermore, Turkish, Russian, and international wire services reported that Turkish police seized 750g of weapons-grade uranium, which had originated in Azerbaijan, in Istanbul in 1994. Initial press reports of seizures of "weapons-usable material" often turn out to be inaccurate, however, and none of these reported cases have been confirmed. Nuclear materials confiscated in Turkey were in most instances taken to the Cekmece Nuclear Research and Training Center in Istanbul for analysis.

Some preliminary observations can be made about these cases. First, public reports indicate that all nuclear material smuggled via Turkey originated in countries of the FSU. As the materials were seized, their ultimate destination cannot be determined with confidence; however, three cases reportedly involved material being sought by or shipped to Iran or Libya. In no case was the reported destination the government or any other entity in Turkey itself. Second, a number of these incidents apparently involved "amateurs" who acquired nuclear materials before identifying potential buyers, and who sought to peddle material of little or no utility for fabricating nuclear weapons. Third, the sheer number of cases indicates that Turkey may be a significant transshipment route for clandestine efforts to buy or sell nuclear material originating in the FSU. Turkey’s geographic setting could make it an attractive route for such transactions. Several countries of proliferation concern – Iran, Iraq, and Syria – share borders with Turkey. Three countries of the FSU – Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia– likewise have borders with Turkey. In addition, ongoing commercial exchange between Turkey and Central Asian countries may provide opportunities for smuggling. However, the concentration and types of incidents reported in Istanbul, and the lack of reported incidents on Turkey's borders with Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, are somewhat surprising. The former offer grounds to speculate that scam artists may seek buyers in the "international bazaar" of Istanbul; the latter could indicate that materials are not shipped across those international borders.

I have to find the source, but there was some U.N. conference hosted by Turkey recently. So Ankara claims its "on board" in stopping this horrible trade. Of course, we know it's just for appearances, right?
