How would another terror attack affect the November Elections?
We know that politicians take advantage of any situation, and we know the republicans took great advantage of nine eleven. Everything they do is designed to grab and hold onto ultimate power, and they will assuredly call us soft and cowardly and they will definitely blame US for the inevitable next terror attack.

It will either galvanize the republican base or it will shatter it. All along they've been crowing that only republicans can take on terror and keep us all safe, but when the next attack occurs, many will see them as failures.

And while I'm at it, how would another attack affect the 08 elections?

1. It would prove beyond a doubt
that this administration is totally incompetent and not fit to govern. You remember what GW said, "Fool me once, duh, er, doh, fool me . . ." Well I don't think anyone would be fooled again.

2. They have a real dilemma...

... another terror attack would rachet up the fear.

It would also be conclusive proof that flushing the constitution down the toilet will not protect anyone and point out the general incompetence of the Bush adminsitration to stop terror.

(Of course the truth is no one can stop a determined terrorist, but if you're going to act like trashing civil liberties, starting pointless wars and draining the treasury will work, you need to be held accountable when it doesn't.)

3. They would try to use it to steal or disrupt the elections...
I have no doubt in my mind.

6. I'm sure they would do just that. Another attack before the
elections would show all but the most avid kool aid drinkers that the "war on terror" wasn't making them any safer.

4. If Dems were smart they'd blame future attacks on Bush's failed policies
which are inciting terrorists by the minute to plan future attacks against us.
