God's Army. How America's armed forces are gearing up for Armegeddon
I love Biloxi so much! Even after Katrina hit, it is still a wonderful place to be. I have been having problems with some of the military people though. Overseas, being a liberal was slightly easier, but now it's a whole new ballgame.

In all honesty, I think now that the United States Armed Forces should go ahead and change it's name to "God's Army". I say this because the military here is so ultra religious that it is seriously scary. What seperates an ultra religious christian with a gun from an ultra religious muslim with a gun?

Not only do the individual thought processes pose a threat to many, but the fuel of the fire, which are preachers who preach nothing but apocolyptic prophecies. This is dangerous! These preachers specificially tell the audience that Islam is the sworn enemy, and in order for the glorious return for Jesus Christ, the devil (islam) should be met with blunt force.

So I ask you, here in Biloxi where this new revelation of ultra-religous indoctrination and war mongering is gaining foot, do the military folk in the south actually pose a threat on the battlefield when they land, you bet your boots they do.

Christians here in Biloxi belittle and do not tolerate the following:Paganism, discussions of evolution, pretty much anything unchristian, which is a big change from the christians that I used to know. They would be interested in discussing politics, and the ways of the world with someone with an altered opinion. Not anymore, since the Armegeddon war has begun.

Final point, this is bad for unit cohesion. To have strict, by the bible holy rollers in a unit, and then say have an atheist and a Wiccan in the mix only means instant conflict. Christians shoot people in their back just as quickly as the next guy, and when it is driven into their head that this is the endtimes, they will kill anything that isn't considered Christian.

They seriously believe it.

1. You do realize it's been like that for well over a century, right?
Boot camp was designed to emulate the conditions of evangelical religious bonding, to break down ties to the old and build ties to the new.

3. Equipped missionaries.
Two years ago, my niece's husband joined the Army and has recently completed special forces training. I am proud of him. However, he told me that he sees our military as "missionaries with M-16's". I almost fell out of my chair in laughter but was able to maintain.

4. And then there's this ...
http://pc.ign.com/objects/757/757683.html
"Left Behind: Eternal Forces will put players in command of the apocalyptic battles raging in the streets of New York City between the angelic Tribulation Forces and the demonic Global Community Peacekeepers during the End of Days."

Now they're starting to train 'em early. There's no question that we, too, have a fundamental religious group going off the rails.
