OMG The Airports ARE DANGEROUS...now...
Check out the photo below. Yes, Ma'am, we think you might have highly explosive liquids in your possession that could kill thousands of Americans and blow up an entire airplane. So please pour the liquid out in front of these hundreds of passengers, including that small baby just three feet behind you, and into this large bucket mixed with all sorts of other unknown and possibly explosive (and reactive) liquids, including alcohol, peroxide, acids, and more. Yeah, that would be the smart way to dispose of suspected terrorist explosives.

These guys are either lying to us, or criminally negligent morons. But this is coming off as bad as the duct tape fiasco.

1. thought that last night
all these different chemicals poured out.mixed together and a quick strike of a lighter........would cause havoc at a airport with thousands of people standing around..

2. Yes, that defies logic.
I'd sure as Hell like someone to actually explain the rationale of being concerned about the dangers of liquids chemicals mixing and thereby not allowing them on a plane only to mix the "accused" (for lack of a better word) chemicals in the airport. :wtf:

3. Do you have KO's email? Am sure he would like to share this stupidity
with the world at large.

How insane! Let's have all people who have potentially hazardous/dangerous liquids and gels pour the contents of the containers carrying same, all into one receptacle.

If this continues, there really could be a dangerous situation when fumes or fire or explosion maims and/or kills innocent air travelers due to a bad combination of materials.

This definitely is the most idiotic "quick fix" to deter terror to date. :grrr:

6. Or how about this logic:
an amateur terrorist plot is uncovered and a twenty man cell is rolled up. The plan to blow up 10 airliners has been thwarted. So...
The day this is announced airport security goes to its highest level short of lockdown and millions of travelers are terrorized by additional measures to catch the plot that has already been caught, and the entire country is fixated by round the clock coverage about the plot and what is going on now at airports.

Are the national security goons just "trying to be safe" or are they drumming terror into the heads of the whole country?

7. Good post...
my first thought was, "Oh yea, they have to pour that liquid out!" I thought they just chucked the whole bottle in there but I didn't think they had to actually pour it out.

A volatile mix indeed! Yikes. Imagine if explosions begin popping up at airports. Terra! Fear!

9. I think it's a good time to get a chemist to write a paper
or article about how REACTIVE some of these UNKNOWN substances are.. for christ's sakes, if you mix bleach and just about anything together you get dangerous OFFGASSING if nothing else..

And there's Bleach in a Lot of things. These idiots may at some point create a Cloud of poisonous vapors in an enclosed area that could toast the lungs of dozens of bystanders.

That's what you get when you have GED dropouts getting paid 4 bucks an hour who never stayed awake in Chem Lab.

STOOPID.

Thanks for the alert, it really is important for this to get out.

And THIS is how they "protect" us.

10. UK Airline restrictions (UK Department of transport/hysteria)
Since this is a public authority announcement designed to inform as many as possible I assume the four paragraph rule is void.

A sip of breast milk anyone?

All cabin baggage must be processed as hold baggage and carried in the hold of passenger aircraft departing UK airports.

Passengers may take through the airport security search point, in a single (ideally transparent) plastic carrier bag, only the following items. Nothing may be carried in pockets:

pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags));

travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);

prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (eg diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.

spectacles and sunglasses, without cases.

contact lens holders, without bottles of solution.

for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags).

female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes).

tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs

keys (but no electrical key fobs)

All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be x-ray screened.

Pushchairs and walking aids must be x-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point.

In addition to the above, all passengers boarding flights to the USA and all the items they are carrying, including those acquired after the central screening point, must be subjected to secondary search at the boarding gate. Any liquids discovered must be removed from the passenger.
