How does banning liquids in the cabin make it safer?
I'm serious. So what???

You can put liquid in your checked luggage. It's on the plane, and there's no way in hell they are checking everything to make sure it's okay.

So, you have a bellyful of checked liquids on the plane. There are other ways to purposely have stuff explode, combust, etc. than mixing it and firing it in the cabin.

So, can someone tell me how this makes it safe?

Gawd.

10. ?????????????????
Of all the items banned from airplanes since
before 9-11, and now after, why are liqueds only
now banned?

Why weren't liqueds banned before or after 9-11
during the past 5-years?

The GOP needs an issue and terror's all they got.
And it ani't gonna fly anymore.

7. A lighter is full of flammable liquid under pressure.
Very slight pressure, to be sure, but still.

Matches, well...someone could simply throw a cup of water on you, or blow them out. I guess. I don't know. I'm making it up as I go along, like BushCo does.

It's all dog-and-pony show security.

6. It actually does make sense, in light of the type of plot hatching
It isn't as if they were planning to carry on a container of gasoline. Obviously, getting actual explosive material past security, along with the material necessary to detonate it, would be damned near impossible. So, the liquids they were bringing were ingredients would have to be mixed then wired to detonate. Bringing in several small containers of various liquids would be safer in many ways than just attempting to carry on a pre-made device.

8. it just doesn't make sense
This is the approach they use:

1. Unconver a plot to cause harm with substance A and action B
2. Prevent all travelers from having substance A or performing action B
3. Uncover a different plot to cause harm with substance C and action D
4. Prevent all travelers from having substance C or performing action D
5. Lather, rinse, repeat

Pretty soon, we run out of letters of the alphabet.

The point is, step 2 needs to come before step 1 if substance A and action B are really a threat. Otherwise, innocent travelers are constantly having their rights and dignity hacked away. And we all seem to take it without complaining too much.

9. I have two ideas on this subject....
1) Making these ridulous requirements for airline passengers will make it easier for seeing the "good" in RFID chips being implanted in us. If you have the chip please go straight to the gate. If you don't, arrive four hours early for check-in.

2) They want to destroy the airlines.....why? I don't have any idea but I can't see how this is going to help the flailing airline industry. On top on higher and higher fuel costs how does adding all this check-in procedure going to be a plus? How many terrorists have been discovered through airline security? It's all B.S. Oh, maybe the only people who will fly will be rich! I now refer you back to number one.

11. Yeah, and what about all that C-4 that was lost in Iraq??
That stuff's not liquid. A terrorist might take some of that C-4 that Rummy and Dumbya gave them, and shape it into a small bunny, and cover it in pink fake-fur. Then they could plant it on a little girl when she's not looking. Then, once on the plane, they could steal it back from the little girl, and light the ears off. What's next, no breathing? A terrorist could fill his lungs with explosive gas fumes and have a flint sparker implanted into his teeth. Then, after the "meal", he could take a nap, and start grinding his teeth together... Aren't really smelly farts explosive? Terrorists could get on a flight with that fat repuke that I had to sit next to for 10 hours, while he farted his way to Hong Kong. A terrorist sitting next to the fat repuke could wait until he goes to the toilet, then put a match to his methane filled seat cushion. So, will all travellers be required to use "Bean-o" 2 hours before any flight? FEAR FEAR.

Peace - :)

16. Or maybe they'll just strap everyone into their seats...
arms and legs, like an electric chair. Dumbya would like that. He could have the flight crews "gitmo-ize" the flights, and anyone who refuses to pay $5 for a set of junk headphones would get "waterboarded" in the lavatory. I can hardly wait to get on that plane next week.

Peace - :)

17. And the funny part, is this.... the checked-in luggage machines
can't detect liquid explosives!

The typical methods used to detect explosives at airports — swabs that test the exterior of luggage and explosive detection machines — would largely be useless against such ingredients.

Q: Do airport screening machines pick up liquid explosives?

A:Most screening machines for checked bags aren't designed to pick up liquid explosives, says explosives expert Jimmie Oxley of the University of Rhode Island. But they could be adjusted to pick up many common ones.

19. This so called "sophisticated plot" is too stupid to be given any
serious consideration. Nothing about it makes sense. Four men in the bathroom mixing chemicals?
