Terrorism defined?
From Wikipedia -

Terrorism is a strategy of using the threat of violence to generate fear and cause disruption for the purpose of bringing about political, religious and ideological change. Terrorist attacks are designed to influence the broader society to which those killed, injured, or taken hostage belong.

Ok - so if a person agrees with the above statement. Then I have a question. Why does the media and various government officials HELP terrorists by instilling more fear from the threat????? If they hate us for our freedom (as Bushco constantly reminds us) then why volunteerily give up those very freedoms that they hate? Why are we allowing the government to influence the broader society BECAUSE of the threat????

And most importantly - why are there no leaders that take Bush to task for this very fundamental bait and switch? The constitution of the Unites States is under attack by right wingers who basically state that the freedoms we are supposed to enjoy enable terrorists the freedom to do their dirty little deeds. But the reality is that if it is those very freedoms that they hate - and we give them up - then they have won - and Bushco enabled the whole thing. (because of his disregard for the constitution)

Thoughts?

1. Terrorism=vicious circle
IMHO your first paragraph succinctly describes this administration. They threaten, they instill fear and God knows they're disruptive!

2. So true. With their constant chorus of "terra! terra! terra!" they

are cheerleading and feeding the terror movements. They are empowering them. Someone once likened them to gnats and at one time they were. Terrorists threats and activities were isolated annoyances from fringe groups no one had ever heard of. No one has done more to advance the cause of terrorism in the world than the Bush administration, cynical opportunists who saw "terrorism" as their meal ticket for oil, Haliburton, and self aggrandizment.

And all because they didn't pay attention to that silly Daily Presidential Brief. What was the title? I believe it was called Bin Laden . . .

"Terrorism is a strategy of using the threat of violence to generate fear and cause disruption for the purpose of bringing about political, religious and ideological change."
