1. No airline tickets
Apparently, they were about to begin to check flights which would leave at about the same time, going to various US cities.

This brings up the question as to why this was revealed now. Certainly a lot less talk about Lebanon these days,

7. Thought Crime - Pre Crime - Call it what you will. I call it bullshit.
But what do I know? I'm just a tin-foil hatter that actually questions the government after being lied to repeatedly, about everything involving "terrorism", since 9/11...

9. so let me get this straight?
The MIHOPers and Anti-MIHOPers have been going at it and we dont even have the basic facts yet???

Nobody knows if these guys had anything concrete against them besides googling for airline tickets and getting money from Pakistan?

14. You're not nearly as funny as you think
Daleo posted the approximate state of their huge "plan to kill 3000 people in airliners crossing the Atlantic." Well...actually, they bought some Gatorade, but only because they were thirsty.

I'm reminded of Jose Padillo here. You remember Jose, right? Evil Islamofascist terrorist getting ready to Kill Us All with a dirty bomb...except that he didn't have a dirty bomb, parts, plans, the cycle of function, or anything except the notion that rolling a regular bomb around in a mudhole for half an hour or so probably won't turn it into a dirty bomb. But he was going to bring on the fall of the republic.

15. Often the evidence is pretty slim and circumstantial
In many of these hyped terrorism cases the evidence doesn't actually amount to much more than a bit of circumstantial physical evidence and an arguable pattern of behavior. Even that can turn into a tissue of lies (think of the Menzies case in London).

Or, too often, the plot is actually the result a police informer who hatches it, proposes it to some saps, sometimes with promises of money, then springs a trap shut. I think that's what happened in Miami, and probably Toronto.

So, yeah, I am pretty cynical about these cases. I guess the Bush/Blair lying about WMD did to me.
