Michael Franti/Spearhead Fans Check In Here
Have you heard of the great music and progressive lyrics of Spearhead and Michael Franti?

I'm guessing many of my fellow "Spearits" are aware there is a new Spearhead album called Yell Fire! and the band is touring extensively now. If you didn't know, or if you are new to Michael Franti and Spearhead, check out their website at http://www.spearheadvibrations.com. In particular, I want to call your attention to the title track of the new album. For me it is completely energizing, a real adrenalin rush, and great reinforcement of my own writing about peaceful revolution (it is necessary, NOW!). Read on and give a listen to the .mp3 at the link below, then catch your breath and then let me know what you think.

Lyrics to YELL FIRE !

A revolution never come with a warning
A revolution never send you an omen
A revolution just arrive like the morning
Ring the alarm we come to wake up the snorin'

They tellin' you to never worry 'bout the future
They tellin' you to never worry 'bout the torture
They tellin' you that you will never see the horror
Spend it all today and we will bill you tomorrow

Three piece suits and bank accounts in Bahamas
Wall Street crime will never send you to the slammer
Tell all the children in the arms of their Mamas
F-15 is a homicide bomber

TV commercial for a pop a pill culture
Drug companies circle in like a vulture
Amer-Iraqi babies with a GI Joe father
Ten years from now is anybody gonna bother?

Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(here we come, here we come)
Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(a revolution will come)

Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(put 'em up, put 'em up)
Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(throw your hands up)

A revolution never come with a warning
A revolution never send you an omen
A revolution never come with a warning
A revolution...

Everyone addicted to the same nicotine
Everyone addicted to the same gasoline
Everyone addicted to a technicolor screen
Everybody tryin' to get their hands on the same green

From the banks of the river to the banks of the greedy
All of the riches taken back by the needy
We come from the country and we come from the city
Play us on a record, you can play us on a CD

All the shit you givin' us is fertilizer
The seeds that we planted you can never brutalize her
Tell the corporation you can never globalize it
Like peter Tosh said, legalize it!

Girls and boys and the bass and the treble
Rumblin' the speakers and it makes you wanna rebel
Throw your hands up, take it to another level
And you never ever ever make a deal with the devil

Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(here we come, here we come)
Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(a revolution will come)

Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(put 'em up, put 'em up)
Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(throw your hands up)

Throw your hands up, c'mon c'mon
Throw your hands up, put 'em up, put 'em up
Throw your hands up
Throw your hands up

Revolution never come with a warning
Revolution never send you an omen
Revolution never come with a warning

Yell Fire! Yo, yo, yo, yo
(here we come, here we come)
Yell Fire! Yo, yo, yo, yo
(revolution will come)

Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(put 'em up, put 'em up)
Yell Fire! Yo, yo yo yo
(throw your hands up)

Revolution never come with a warning
Revolution never send you an omen
Revolution just arrive like the morning
Ring the alarm we come to wake up the snorin'

Yell Fire!...
Yo, yo, yo,
Fire!

Here we come, here we come
A revolution will come
Put 'em up, put 'em up

2. Present!
I love 'em!

You think I'm vulnerable to your pressure tactics
because I shed a tear, 'cause I shed a tear
you think I'm vulnerable to your violence
just 'cause I'm sittin' here
but my babies came into this world
without a single fear, say they had no fear
'cause the seven generations before me
they all fought to get us here

5. Excellent CD!! As impressive as "Everyone Deserves Music", the last one.

You can't listen to either "Yell Fire" or "Everyone Deserves Music" and not be moved (in several senses of that word, including dance). Even if you're occassionally provoked, you'll be moved! : )

7. I gotta get that...I only have EDM
EDM was my first Spearhead album, found "Bomb The World (Armageddon version)" on shockedandawful.com's protest music pages, and it caught my ear. Looking forward to fetching Yell Fire.

13. Big DHOH fan here!
Television (Drug Of The Nation) is the most intelligent song ever written!

One nation
under God
has turned into
one nation under the influence
of one drug

Television the drug of the Nation
Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation

T.V. it
satellite links
our United States of Unconsciousness
Apathetic therapeutic and extremely addictive
The methadone metronome pumping out
150 channels 24 hours a day
you can flip through all of them
and still there's nothing worth watching
T.V. is the reason why less than 10 per cent of our
Nation reads books daily
Why most people think Central Amerika
means Kansas
Socialism means unamerican
and Apartheid is a new headache remedy
absorbed in it's world it's so hard to find us
It shapes our mind the most
maybe the mother of our Nation
should remind us
that we're sitting too close to...

Television, the drug of the Nation
Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation

T.V. is
the stomping ground for political candidates
Where bears in the woods
are chased by Grecian Formula'd
bald eagles
T.V. is mechanized politic's
remote control over the masses
co-sponsored by environmentally safe gases
watch for the PBS special
It's the perpetuation of the two party system
where image takes precedence over wisdom
Where sound bite politics are served to
the fastfood culture
Where straight teeth in your mouth
are more important than the words
that come out of it
Race baiting is the way to get selected
Willie Horton or
Will he not get elected on...

Television, the drug of the Nation
Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation

T.V., is it the reflector or the director ?
Does it imitate us
or do we imitate it
because a child watches 1500 murders before he's
twelve years old and we wonder why we've created
a Jason generation that learns to laugh
rather than to abhor the horror
T.V. is the place where
armchair generals and quarterbacks can
experience first hand
the excitement of warfare
as the theme song is sung in the background
Sugar sweet sitcoms
that leave us with a bad actor taste while
pop stars metamorphosize into soda pop stars
You saw the video
You heard the soundtrack
Well now go buy the soft drink
Well, the only cola that I support
would be a union C.O.L.A.(Cost Of Living Allowance)
On television

Television, the drug of the Nation
Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation

Back again, "New and improved"
We return to our irregularly programmed schedule
hidden cleverly between heavy breasted
beer and car commercials
CNNESPNABCTNT but mostly B.S.
Where oxymoronic language like
"virtually spotless", "fresh frozen"
"light yet filling" and "military intelligence"
have become standard
T.V. is the place where phrases are redefined
like "recession" to "necessary downturn"
"Crude oil" on a beach to "mousse"
"Civilian death" to "collateral damages"
and being killed by your own Army
is now called "friendly fire"
T.V. is the place where the pursuit
of happiness has become the pursuit of
trivia
Where toothpaste and cars have become
sex objects
Where imagination is sucked out of children
by a cathode ray nipple
T.V. is the only wet nurse
that would create a cripple

Television, the drug of the Nation
Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation

18. Right click the images
First I searched Google and found these photos scattered across a few different sites. For each image, when I found it, I right clicked and selected copy image location. Then I pasted that in my post. That's it. You can right click the images shown in this thread and do the same.
