I Am So Tired Of The Bleeding In Iraq
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 01:49 PM by cali
And I am so discouraged about the prospect of it ending. Even if democrats get the Senate and the House back, there'll be no withdrawal. They have the power of the purse, but they won't refuse the administration's request for funding.

I am so tired of the stories that come out of Iraq. I am tired of seeing the numbers rising, month after month after month, at the Baghdad Morgue. I'm tired of seeing stories like the one about the 2 helicoptor pilots, whose bodies were found today. I'm tired of Vermont soldiers dying. Yes, I know that sounds parochial, but we're such a small state, and we've had 25 Vermonters die in Iraq. It's hard not to know a family that hasn't lost someone. In my little town alone, we've lost 3.

I know Lebanon is awful, and it's new, and it makes the mideast a more volatile place by a significant degree, but Iraq makes me angrier- and wearier. It's so under my skin; because no matter what happens, it's going to be awful. There was never a good outcome there, but we may well have produced one of the worst possible future scenarios.

And when I think about it, really think about it, I feel so caged and helpless. We couldn't stop it- whoever we is, and we certainly can't do anything about its trajectory, and its such so hopelesslyfucked up.

I don't know if what I wrote makes any sense, but I just had to rant about the frustration I feel.

1. It is a runaway train into hell...
I agree, we are pretty much helpless to stop it at this point. It will take mass civil disobedience, along the scale of what's happening in Mexico right now. I don't see any of that on the immediate horizon.

2. Your rant is right on but let me compound your pain
"Conservatives" in America love the continued death and destruction and despair in Iraq. They don't care that Iraqis are dying. They don't care that our kids are dying. If 100,000+ americans die (under bush's leadership) they won't give one damn. They don't care that our military is being grinded to a halt in the Iraqi sand because of failed civilian leadership. They don't care that our budget deficit is skyhigh. bush's base is a monument to ignorance and arrogance and pride.

3. I find it so hard to believe that but
it must be true- maybe not the part about them loving death and destruction. I don't believe that, but I do believe that have this twisted idea of what war is, and a blind allegiance to an administration that really is in love with military force as an option in almost every possible circumstance.

5. They do not know
what death and destruction is. They are chickenhawks. They love what they don't know and they hate what they don't know. "Conservatives" love not knowing much of anything. Its the world rove and bush want them to live in, the world of ignorance where flags made in China and yellow ribbons on cars make them pump out their chests and grab their crotches and cuss about woosy liberals, all the while never lifting a finger to discover what death and destruction and suffering on a battlefield is all about. You are a kind hearted, loving human being and your nonbelief in their cruelty is understandable. But please do believe, they are pure evil, wrapped in ignorance and a definite threat to our constitution.

4. Fifty or more American servicemembers have died in the last month and
not yet a half:

But NEVERMIND about that!!!!!!

Look over THERE!!!! Quick, in LONDON!!!

Terra!!! Terra!!!! OOOooooga-Booooga~~~~~!!!!! And if you are a cut-n-run DemocRAT (they're using that in full force, lately) then you just do NOT care about our nation's security!!! You're a COMMIE, see????

So what we all need to do is suck it up, ignore it when our loved ones come home in aluminum vaccuum sealed boxes, and pretend every thing is just fine.

Because the fearless leader said that's gonna make everything aaaaaaallllllll better!

But seriously, you're right about Iraq--there is no good outcome. It's like Yugoslavia....no strong man to hold it together.
