Looks like you might get to keep your lipstick...

No evidence of U.S.-based threat, Chertoff says

<snip>

But Friday, Chertoff said his department was looking to adjust some of the new traveling restrictions - they have barred many common carry-on items such as water bottles and toiletries - to "somewhat reduce any additional inconvenience." He provided no details.

"I don't want to suggest that they're going to be earth- shattering, but we're going to move to try to make this as simple and as easy as possible, as quickly as possible," he said in a news conference at Reagan National Airport.

Even so, Chertoff cited the possibility of other terrorists or sympathizers, saying, "So I'm not prepared to let my guard down."

1. That chill you feel is security
Once the aircraft is aloft you'll quickly adjust to your nudity. We'll provide soft blankets for your comfort. Unless you're flying coach...

2. That didn't take long.
Evidently, a few upscalers complaining about the cost of makeup and
hair gels can rattle BushCo.

3. To be honest
I never realized how expensive make up was, until I got married and had to spend money on my wife's makeup. She isn't into it big time, but she has some allergies to different brands of make up, and the prices some of the differing types of makeup/foundation/rouge/lipstick, can be extremely expensive. I just got a little...I think, 1 ounce bottle of liquid foundation for my wife yesterday, it the cost...10 bucks.

5. 10 bucks? Count yourself lucky.
When she's old enough to think she needs the wrinkle-cream and microdermabrasion stuff, you can kiss $100+ goodbye for each microscopic bottle of hype.

13. No, not really
but I was raised mormon, so...I do have an open mind. When it comes to my wife's makeup and what not, I usually give her full authority over what she needs. But she isn't one of those women who need the 50 dollar perfume, or things like that(she use to be though, before we got a mortgage and another car payment). The makeup is for her job, and I 99.9% of the time get her anything she needs for work...which usually includes makeup, shoes, clothes...oh wait...I think I might be getting played here!...:) :silly: Just kidding...:)

15. My daughter is a professional makeup artist.
She travels with thousands of dollars of
liquids and gels (FX and beauty stuff).

She already has to ship her ultra-sharp
scissors and blades because of airport security.

She looks like Drew Barrymore, but with a
case of deadly chemicals at her side.

4. a news conference at Reagan National Airport-makes me wanna hurl
That makes me so fucking angry I could barf. My dad was a controller in 81, and the fact that they named an airport after Raygun is a fucking insult. AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG.

6. Reagan made the skies more dangerous with that move.
I refuse to use his name when I refer to that airport. It's Washington National, dammit.

9. "Thank you for flying Nude Air. As you leave the aircraft, please take
a moment to make sure you haven't left any butt residue on the seat cushion. The next passenger to use your seat will thank you for your consideration. Wet wipes are in the seat back in front of you. Have a nice day."

10. Unless they start additional security checks as you board the plane,
what is to stop people from buying, say, a bottle of water inside the airport, after they have gone through security screening and before they board the plane. When I change planes and sometimes terminals in making connections in Detroit or Cleveland or Boston, I do not have to go through security again. Imagine the time and costs (both personnel & equipment) of having to screen carryon items and search passengers at the time they actually board. I can't believe the US airports were doing this yesterday - they haven't had time to staff up/buy all the additional equipment necessary to do this. Anyone fly yesterday? Did you just go through security at the regular location in the airport?
