our local news), can't we make use of that?...as in "Bush has failed to catch the A-Q leader OBL
and look what they almost got away with"...

Huh? Al Qaeda blew up just such a device on a Japanese airliner in 1994. So why exactly did they not change the carryon rules for the last 12 years?
