Dear USA Today;

September 2006 marks the 5th anniversary of a seemingly forgotten, yet deadly, terrifying attack conducted on U.S. soil against U.S citizens.

The 8 separate Anthrax mailings of 2001 have yet to be solved. For those who may have forgotten, military grade Anthrax, its origins traced back to Fort Dietrich, was delivered by the US Post Office to certain members of the media and select Democrats in Congress.

The collaterally damaged dead were exposed via handling that mail.

I am SHOCKED that some politicians and media personalities are smirkily predicting/threatening us (the electorate!) with terrorism--unless, of course, we vote for them--when this atrocious, deadly crime has not been solved.

Remind me again: who's "tough on terrorism"?

"The Bush Administration has had a lot to say about Great Britain’s thwarted airliner plot. What is clear, however, is that not only did the Administration have no role in stopping this plot, neither did policies of the type the Administration advocates. The British plot was stopped through police work after the plotters were ratted on. Had this transpired in the U.S., the police work could have been just as successful without threatening our civil liberties, under current FISA law, and without further restrictions on the traveling public. Based on the incompetence of the Bush Administration, however, I am convinced that had the identical plot been hatched in the U.S., such successful interdiction would not have occurred. Instead, we would have been shocked by the news of airliners’ being blown up. This Administration has succeeded only in making us more, not less, vulnerable to terrorism; and we will remain at greater risk of terrorism until the day Bush leaves office. We could enhance our safety this November, however, by throwing out the do-nothing GOP Congress and electing senators and representatives who would do their jobs and monitor the Administration, highlighting what it's failing to do to keep us safe."

Short and to the point. Very effective. Because it's so short, you still have room to add a few more details, such as the names of the politicians who received the anthrax as well as more details on who actually died.
