On 7-13-2006 (shortly after this current fighting started) Bush was asked what he thought about what was going on in the Middle East and he replied,
"Israel has the right to defend herself." Like that was news? Are there many who disagree with that? But that was it for a quote, short and sweet. - or short and sour but that was the only quote...
I thought that odd to be his main point though. Like how would that help position the USA in a good place to be a go between to eventually quell the fighting? Even if he didn't intend to do so. He said it like "go get'em." We know now what they wanted but at the time I thought that was particularly odd even for him...NO couching for future peace or solving the problem at all...
Kind of expected something about how he hoped the killing would stop, but no, he just said "Israel has the right to defend herself."... He obviously wanted that to be the message.
then I ran into an interview with Hagee on INR...
http://www.israelnationalradio.com/which is like super right wing Israeli radio, people like Hagee and Falwell are loved on their shows... very, very interesting stuff. Kind of like FOX news with brains and purpose.
June 12, 2006 the day before Bush's quote... Hagee was on the show 'A Light Unto the Nation' talking about this organization he started "Christians United for Israel." Hagee said they would have over 3,000 "spiritual leaders" coming to Washington on July 18 to lobby for Israel.
The second question Hagee was asked was what did they want the US government to do. ...
"Our message to congress with regard to what's happening in Israel right now is this, 'We want our government to fully support Israel’s right to defend itself against every form of terrorism to any extent that it so desires until terrorism is totally defeated or they recognize Israel's right to exist and stop every form of terrorist activity.'" Bush does what he is told because he thinks God is guiding him, and he thinks they speak for God. He is truly delusional and yes we will see their self fulfilling prophecies come to pass. It's called an "automatic theocracy" by someone from Korea I have read about.
