MSNBC and CNN hitting new lows with these repeated JBR
clips -- it's like airing child porn but justifying it in the name of news.

Cable news today is soooooooooooooooooooooooo incredibly bad.

1. Sooooooooooooooooooooo Why Do You Watch?
Do you also watch tv shows you don't like?

If you know it's garbage, and yet you continue to watch, then aren't you part of the problem?

2. Well, I've been channel surfing like mad to find something

else and can't. And it's on every program from Matthews to Dobbs to Wolfie on the Situation Room. NPR's over and C-Span's got nothing on. How does not having anything else to watch make me part of the problem?

8. Sure it does. But aren't there more alternatives than "Well,
just watch it and shut up orjust don't watch it." Couldn't we actually hope to have what's out there be real journalism or real news? Couldn't we have a 24/7 news channel that actually did a good job? Reporting fairly and even-handedly, with solid commentary and analysis, intelligent discussion, and coverage of real news instead of supermarket schlock?

5. There's ALWAYS Something Else To Watch
Assuming you can't break away from the TV set, there must be at least 100 other channels you could be watching.

If you watch MSM, on a day when they're salivating over a story like this, then don't be surprised with the wall to wall coverage being provided. THAT'S WHAT THEY DO!!!

If I channel surf, and come across some garbage news show, I keep going. Nobody is forcing me to stop and watch Tweety or Blitzer or Scarborough or Hannity or O'Leilly. That's what the remote is for.

And I could have bet you any amount of money that they would cover this story 24/7 once it broke. Did you think they wouldn't? Thought they would cover the wiretap case verdict? Are you nuts? Why would the Corporate Media Whores cover a story which favors the liberals? Haven't you been paying attention?

7. I've got a standard cable package and the news channels
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 06:20 PM by joemurphy
are basically MSNBC, CNN, CNN-Headline News, and C-Span1 and C-Span2. Oh yeah, there's FOX-News but I don't go there. I listen to NPR and try to catch the Newshour on PBS. But that's about all there is in Indianapolis.

I suppose there are other things...but not news. I'm a news junkie. I sometimes listen to the BBC or read blogs. But there's merit in watching cable just to see what the country is being fed. And what it's being fed is shit, for the most part. And did I hope to catch something on the wiretap verdict? Well, to be honest, yes I did. (I caught a smidgeon. Cafferty's rant and Gonzalez' press interview. But that was just too meaty and the followup was more prancing videos from Jon Benet in her Vegas Showgirl outfit).

I can't blame viewers for the quality of TV-news. What real choice do viewers have?

6. Keeping track of the propaganda fed to the masses is important...
I respect those who do it. For the most part, my stomach is too weak.

3. I agree. I just keep flipping the channels and keep
getting more and more pictures of Jon Benet and her supposed murderer.
