How would GWB have handled Nikita Khrushchev's threat, "We will
bury you"? How would he have handled the Cuban Missile Crisis? I honestly can't image him successfully navigating through a real threat to America.

3. IN 1962 the Republicans were in favor of an all out invasion
of Cuba and were insisting that President Kennedy take their advice. So yes we wouldn't be here if Nixon had been elected..so with GB being a puppet President there would be no doubt what would have happen.

5. Yup. It was more of a boast than a threat
It was specifically about economic production, IIRC.

11. I heard it was more like 'we'll outlast you/be at your funeral'.
But, it wasn't the 'we will bury you' it was billed as being.

And I'm glad George III wasn't president.

6. How he would have responded to Nikita
By grabbing a shovel and saying "Oh yeah, we'll see about that!".

7. He would have attacked and invaded Canada

...since his modus operandi is to do the most ineffectual thing with the least relationship to the matter at hand.

9. He would have ignored it --
the USSR had nuclear bombs and could deliver them. He only goes after countries that don't have what he accuses them of having, or at least can't deliver them. North Korea and Iran both understand that quite well, so have tried to hype their delivery systems.

12. There's no doubt in my mind that there would have been a nuclear war if
Bush had been president back then. It wasn't revealed until a few years ago that the Russians had tactical nuclear weapons operational in Cuba and that they did not have to go to the Kremlin to get permission to use them if they had been attacked. If Curtis Lamay and the other hawks advising Kennedy had had their way, we would have attacked Cuba and they would have retaliated with their nuclear missiles. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed.

I saw an interview with Robert McNamara when the movie "Thirteen Days" came out. He said that the movie was pretty accurate except that it didn't convey how close we actually were to a nuclear war
