Racial Slurs Are A Necessity
Remember Nixon's "Southern Strategy"?

Every now and then, from time to time, its necessary for a prominent Republican to remind the base what its all about. They'll do it in the south and decry the loss of heritage and the good old days. At a state-wide fundraiser, a Bar-B-Que under the hottest sun this side of Talladega, or with sweet-tea under the shade of an Oak that has seen history that was never taught, the N-word will slip out. A Reminder. This is the base, this is what its all about.

4. One thing about Reagan that many people don't know.
Edited on Fri Aug-18-06 04:18 PM by Cyrano
Reagan kicked off his run for the presidency in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the town where the Klan murdered three civil rights workers during a voter's rights drive in the 1960s. He was sending a blatant message to the bigots of the day.

For anyone unfamiliar with the incident, it was the subject of the movie "Mississippi Burning." Their names were Schwerner, Cheney and Goodman. Their murderers were the forerunners of many in today's Republican party.

3. Trent Lott and others like him are a prime example of that.
I see they still use the same strategy they used a long time ago. It's sad, really.
