AAR moving "Majority Report" to 9A-12P ET, displacing Springer
A few days ago, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Rober Feder claimed that Jerry Springer's radio show was on thin ice:

http://www.suntimes.com/output/feder/cst-fin-feder22.html

Now, it looks like Sam Seder's getting Springer's shift, according to the Boston Globe:

http://ltradio.blogspot.com/2006/08/seder-moving-to-mid-morning-slot-on.html

That leaves morning drive (6A-9A) and the 8P-10P shift between Maddow and Malloy left to be filled.

1. I'll take MR over SOTR at 9 am any day!!!!
"Springer on the Radio" is more of an evening show anyway...

The RW has angry "Glenn Beck" at 9 till noon - put Sam up against that, and I guarantee a WIN!

3. Already mentioned here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1968316 :P

I don't think Sam's new slot will have many clearances, since that's Stephanie Miller's slot.

But here's the bigger problem after September 1: with a 3-hour Randi, it's going to cause some major headaches for the affiliates who carry Randi on a 3-hour delay after Ed Schultz. Why?

Here's the schedule for the Schultz affiliates as it is now:

3 PM–6 PM ET: Ed Schultz (live)
6 PM–10 PM ET: Randi Rhodes (delayed)
10 PM-1 AM ET: Mike Malloy (live), Majority Report (delayed), or Lionel (live)

But after September 1, here's what it may be like:

3 PM-6 PM ET: Ed Schultz (live)
6 PM–9 PM ET: Randi Rhodes (delayed)
9 PM–10 PM ET: ?
10 PM–1 AM ET: ?

The question is, what are those affiliates going to put on at 9 PM? An hour of Maddow on delay? Two hours of Maddow on delay from 9-11 PM ET, and Malloy delayed 1 hour from 11-2? An hour of whatever show that will air live at 9 PM ET?

This is going to get interesting...

There are definitely some wing-nuts there, but there's some good information to be found among the garbage.

5. What's the deal with Mike Malloy?
Is there a possibility of him loosing his show? I've been hearing about Seder for weeks, but I didn't hear anything about Mike!

6. Nothing's changed
Malloy will stay in his shift. And he'll be back on in New York.

Rhodes is shortened to three hours, and Franken is just Franken. No change there.

8. No, Malloy is being kept for sure.
Got a 2-year contract extension a few weeks ago!

7. I can't find the new AAR schedule
Is there a site that shows the entire new schedule? I can only find bits and pieces in threads and nothing on the AAR site.

Thx

10. They haven't officially announced it yet.
They'll probably do it next week, since the 8 PM–10 PM slot is still up in the air.

11. Thank you, Lord:
1) Sam is staying
2) Springer is going.

Didn't Maddow say she was going to 6-8p? Can Mike move up to primetime east coast and drive time west coast.

12. Yay!
Now, if we could get the two Willies off the local AAR affiliate. Still, I can listen to Sam for an hour when I get to work.

14. Thank You AAR
I would have missed the Majority Report. I'll miss Sam in his old time slot though.

17. I hear that.
I don't think the line up here in Los Angeles will change. Momma's show is #2 in the LA market.

16. Also in the Sun Times article ...
Eleanor Mondale, the former Chicago radio personality, has recovered from her bout with brain cancer and signed on as midday co-host at WCCO-AM in her native Minneapolis.

My god, I didn't know about this. I'm glad she's ok.
