Wal-Mart courts gays; wingnuts go, well, nuts
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the retail giant that grew up in the rural South, is moving to attract gay shoppers as it expands its presence in urban centers.

By entering into a partnership with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce this week, the company "is making a very sincere effort to reach out to people who are a significant part of our customer base," Wal-Mart spokesman Bob McAdam said Wednesday.

"I am proud of that effort," he said.

But Wal-Mart did not issue a news release about the alliance, leaving the chamber to announce it. And as news of the partnership trickles out, a backlash is taking shape among some conservatives.

"I don't think this is something that will sell on Main Street America, where most Wal-Mart stores are located," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a conservative public policy group in Washington. "I don't think cheap prices on goods from China will be enough to stop a rollback in their customer base if they choose to go down this aisle."

2. Tony Perkins, idiot spokesman for idiots
- WAL-MART wants that green thats in the wallets of gays
- Main Street America is chock full of gays tony; you fucking hateful idiot.
- So go ahead "christians," you show WAL-MART just how much you can hate.

The likes of tony perkins are the number one domestic enemy of our constitution. bush is an idiot to think we aren't fighting them over here. This country has enough "christian" terrorists working everyday to destroy the constitution.

3. Now if they'd ease up on the gay marriage issue . . .
They'd create tens of thousands of new two-adult households -- often child-free -- with all that disposable income in hand.

What is it about wingnuts that they continue to vote (and agitate) in opposition to their own economic interests?

5. Tony Perkins? Isn't he that guy that killed his mother and left
her in a rocking chair then dressed up in her clothes and killed Jaimie Lee Curtis' mother?

This guy sounds just as crazy. What an asshole. Mainstream America will go where ever they can stretch its dollar.

Except me. I'm stupid and have never entered a Wal Mart in my life. Standing on principal and all that.

I do go to Target tho.

9. WM is notorious for talking the talk
I've covered them for nearly 20 years, and the real truth about them is this; during grand openings and the like, they have the local wacko fundie doing a "benediction," and that's where their politics really are. I was at one opening in Tulsa where Richie Roberts, Oral's even crazier kid, was the featured speaker. Possibly the most disgusting 10 minutes I have ever been subjected to. Calling on god to bless this store and bring it increased sales. Their brains really have spiders in them.

So this is really fun, watching the fundies beat up on these cretins.

8. Greed...is blind to everything except money. Remember that well.
If courting homosexuals will increase the bottom line, then it will be done. Greed does not care about your humanity or your feelings. It is blind to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or sexual orientation.

Greed only cares about how much you have and how much effort it will take to trick you into giving it money. That is all.

11. I'm surprised that many gays shop at Wal-Mart.
Most gay people have better taste and higher standards than that!

I can't stand Wal-Mart. I will pay more, drive farther, or do without before I go to Wal-Mart. I have principles and they are not for sale, nor are they negotiable.
