Bill for Depleted Uranium Screening Passes Calf. Senate
http://www.eurekareporter.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?ArticleID=14280

California veterans and members of the US Armed Forces are one signature away from mandated access to health screening to determine thier exposure to depleted uranium.

SB 1720 ,the Veterans Health and Safety Act of 2006,passed with unanimous approval of the state Senate on Wennesday and is headed to Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger's desk. The Bill which establishes outreach programs tests for veterans, was introduced by State Sen.Wes Chesbro (D-Arcata) in February of this year.

First State to step up to the plate.

4. My feeble thought on Depleted Uranium.
If I dumped a teaspoon of that stuff in my backyard, the EPA would lock me up. But we can bombard entire countries with the shit, and it's just hunky dory.

Just ask a machinist how much paperwork is involved when machining DU.

Hey, Iraq's water supply is going to have depleted uranium in it for the next few billion years. No prob. Right guys? No hard feelings?

5. Support Veterans For Peace
You don't have to be a veteran to belong to VFP. I have been working with the Humboldt Bay chapter 56 for over two years now and they are one of the best orgs in this area. This area being Arcata where Sen. Chesboro is from. Some of the guys in our chapter have worked very hard to get the bill this far.

BTW, here is a meme I like to use to really help people grasp the magnitude of the DU issue:

Depleted Uranium is Mr. Bush's slow-motion holocaust.

Thanks to Depleted Uranium, Mr. Bush has condemned to death far, far more people than Hitler ever killed.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

6. This is Real Support for the Troops
has this made any big newspapers in CA.. or on any National news?
The state Reps shot the testing down here in MN, after very hard lobbying by
local and large Vets for Peace. Mostly due to lack of coverage by media

8. Quick search, no other media coverage
There are so many ways to hook into this story. The most important may be to connect it to the discussions of war crimes that are finally starting to bubble up. DU is an internationally banned weapon.

To learn more about depleted uranium, here are a few good articles.

Tribune Media Services (Bob Koehler) - Spreading Cancer - 6-29-06

SF Bay View (Dennis Kyne, Gulf War I Vet) - What happened to the test tube paradigm - 2-16-05
