Apparently the citizens of Kennebunkport don't raise an eyebrow at *.
I have a friend, an excellent Dem, who has lived in neighboring Kennebunk for several years, and she says that people in both towns generally don't care one way or the other about the Bushies. It is only the tourists, she says, who get all excited at the prospect of seeing Walker's Point. (Apparently this is another way in which the poor souls down there distinguish themselves from the teeming masses of touristos.)

Oh, and for those of you who are asking: YES, those "parkas" * and * Sr. are wearing are perfectly justified. For one thing, they aren't solely parkas--they are known in the vernacular as "floatcoats" and are combination lifejacket-parka. (My father is an amateur lobsterman in Casco Bay and a sailor of more than 20 years--he's no thin-blooded wuss, and he wears one of those coats all the time, even in summer.) Plus, the water isn't exactly warm up here, and if you go any distance off shore, it is even colder, both the water and the air.

Bleach, did I just defend Georgie-Boy? Better go clean myself off....

:D

2. Well, I never said Mainers made sense.
Not that * is a Mainer in any way, shape, or form. He just tries to be one whenever he's up here. Fails miserably, of course. :D

19. He fails miserably at being a Southerner, too.
No compassion, no sense and no warm demeanor.

12. My hat (if I had one) is off to you, sir...
You must spend time reminiscing watching that show on Discovery Channel (?) about the crab fishermen. The boyfriend of a girl who worked at my brother's bakery in Homer was on that show. We were all like, whoa, we KNOW that guy. What a surprise.

16. Oh, I remember that...
There had been just an incredible amount of fish all over up here this summer, but the hot silver fishing in the Mat-Su Valley has come to an abrupt halt because we've had a ton of rain and the whole valley is flooded. People are reporting salmon swimming around in their yards. It's just crazy.

The pics are excellent, and I am proud of those who were able to turn out. 'Port police think it was about 700 people, which isn't bad at all for our crazy area.

6. WIMR, you've used lots of foul language here
but this is the first time I'm going to instruct you to wash your mouth out with soap.

It's true that the natives don't give a rat's ass about the wealthy or well known summer people in the ocean colonies. As for the flotation device, I've never seen one on any of the water people that I've known who fish or boat in Casco Bay even on the coldest, rainiest days of summer. Even my cousins from California didn't wear that much gear.

Such a combo may be handy in the colder seasons but they were wearing it when it was prolly no colder than 50 degrees out on the boat. I vote for viewing that attire as a bad attempt at covering up the fact that they were thin blooded Texans wearing some hefty body armor.

14. W's a great fisherman from his stocked pool in Texas
He can fish from his patio. Like Cheney "hunting" caged birds.

These elitist republicans make me sick.
