Student Charged With Packing Dynamite
HOUSTON -- A college student has been charged in connection with dynamite found in his luggage at Bush Intercontinental Airport Friday, KPRC Local 2 reports.

Officials said Howard Fish, 21, was charged with carrying an explosive on board an aircraft.

Authorites discovered the dynamite Friday morning when a K-9 unit detected explosive residue on a checked bag from a flight from Argentina.

Investigators said Fish told them he had bought the item as an artifact when he toured mine fields in South America.

8. More distraction...
His fate will be determined by the amount of resources ($$$)he and his family have to resist the kid's "acting out." If I were the judge, he'd be sentenced to house arrest during the term of an on-line high-school Chemistry I class and compulsory counseling to investigate the reasons he would choose to remember his trip by purchasing a stick of dynamite as opposed to a scenic postcard of the mine.

5. Stupid!
Old dynamite doesn't even need blasting caps to set it off, it's that damn unstable.

9. Oh, I know. Thank God I don't live in Houston.
It's bad enough living a few blocks away from the "President George Bush Turnpike". Fortunately, there are plenty of other ways to get where I need to go.

11. So the idiot *DID* know he was putting dynamite in his luggage (originally
it was reported as him not knowing it was in there and that he worked in the mining industry ( Mr. Fish said he worked in the mining industry. The authorities were checking his explanation. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/26/world/europe/26london.html?_r=1&oref=slogin&pagewanted=print )

So he LIED. And could easily have killed hundreds of others. I think a 10 year sentence is appropriate.

12. wierd - this story keeps changing
first it's a stick of dynamite, then it's explosive residue, now it's dynamite again. when the story was explosive residue, the guy claimed he worked in a mine in Argentina, now it says he was touring mine fields. what gives?

Willie saw some dynamite

Willie saw some dynamite,
Couldn't understand it quite;
Curiosity never pays.
It rained Willie seven days.
