Watching Dixie Chicks
they are so talented. So good to hear the audience supporting them.
www.wxel.org Love them so much!!!

My greatist wish - to play electric guitar. And I work for a entertainment company. Where do I start at my age - "old".

1. Well first you need a guitar.
Actually, the rest is easy, (if you can pass on fame and fortune.) For so many reasons, guitars are great. You can learn three chords and play a thousand songs. Good luck.

4. Fame and fortune is not my goal!
my dream (god, at my age) is for me and my granddaughter to be playing a J. Denver tune (she on the violin). I have always loved the steel guitar. I've just made a major decision - to go for it. We will both take this step. She loves music, all music and particularly country music (us and extended family were raised on country). John Denver is one of our favorites.

8. Sounds like you're ready.
I don't claim to be a musician, but I have played music with friends, and nothing beats it, (at least with your clothes on.) My three chord mantra above serves for country, rock, blues, and much pop. I've learned some "jazz" chords too.

Good, playable, guitars are much more easily and cheaply obtained than even ten years ago. Electric is great, but it's good to have an acoustic too, because they build your fingers up more, and you can play them anywhere, the beach, the camp fire, etc.

I have 5 guitars, various types. The diversity is one of the unique qualities of guitar. There's no similar range in trumpets, saxophones, even keyboards. You can play them simple -- strum a few chords, or hard -- chords plus melody plus bassline.

Pedal steel is another story. Nobody says that's easy.

2. I can't stop listening to the new album

Oh man, what a treat. It has exceeded all my expectations. Sounds more rock/blues than country, and amazing because every song is fantastic. They will get an Emmy for sure!

3. Dixie Chicks
I was just starting to make a an acoustical guitar when I got notified I had been accepted to graduate school at the University of Washington. I took the easier route and chose graduate school. Now that I have graduated I can get back to what I enjoy.

6. Hey, I'm 53 and I've just started playing.
I bought an electric guitar and now I'm self-teaching myself chords and scales. It's fun and very relaxing!

7. Hey! Great...
I admire your ambitions and you are a pup. I think I'm just jealous (damn, I hate that analogy) of the part of my family that music just comes naturally. Damn, I love them but hate they are so gifted.

I see a steel guitar in my future.
