The *real* story behind the Phillips/CNN/Bush speech controversy (IMO)
Why was Kyra Phillips, a reporter for a national news network, in the can while the president was speaking? That should be the story! Has Chimpie become so irrelevant now that network reporters don't even bother to cover his speeches--but only to come on line at times during the speech to remind us of what's going on as if the were covering the speech? I heard the tape and was somewhat flummoxed by the fact that Phillips wasn't even listening to Bush. Instead she decided to visit the toilet while he was speaking, and came on toward the end of his speech with her decisive-sounding national reporter's "The President spoke about this and that" summary, like she stood there listening to him the whole time.

The begs the question, do other reporters do this as well? What really upsets me more than Kyra's inability to schedule her restroombreaks responsibly, is that it was the Corporate Media that foisted Bush off on us ever since the day he announced his candidacy for POTUS in 1998. They protected him and covered for him and have done so ever since! So f*ck you Corporate Media...you stand there and you listen to His Royal Flatulence and don't go running off to the toilet to avoid doing so! He was your creation, so you just stand there and take it like the rest of us!!!

I'm pretty sure that was Daryn Kagan coming on at the end...
so it makes perfect sense for Kyra to take a bathroom break then, if Kagan had anchor duties at the time.

1. Newsreaders usually run to the bathroom when they know...
the cameras will be elsewhere for an extended period of time. I think she had to pee. Anybody who thinks they do anything more than read the teleprompter is being foolish.

6. Bush's speeches/interviews are scripted anyway. Mediawhores know
what he's going to say beforehand.

2. I think the real story is who turned on her mic.
It appears to me that someone in the control booth does not like her and wanted to embarrass her. As long as it was left on I would guess that more than one person was trying to screw with her.

4. Well, they could at least *pretend* to be listening to the speech...
As I said in the original post, the Corporate Media foisted him on us, they can damn well stand there and suffer like the rest of us have to...

8. didn't need to listen to the speech to summarize it
the bushies hand out the transcripts and talking points before the speech...
all Kyra had to do is read the "meme" out loud

9. Who needs to "cover" a Bush speech?
If you miss anything, you just refer to every other speech he's made. He hasn't uttered a new line in five years.
