Ohio to Delay Destruction of Presidential Ballots
Michael Houghton for The New York Times

By IAN URBINA
Published: August 31, 2006
With paper ballots from the 2004 presidential election in Ohio scheduled to be destroyed next week, the secretary of state in Columbus, under pressure from critics, said yesterday that he would move to delay the destruction at least for several months.

Since the election, questions have been raised about how votes were tallied in Ohio, a battleground state that helped deliver the election to President Bush over Senator John Kerry.

The critics, including an independent candidate for governor and a team of statisticians and lawyers, say preliminary results from their ballot inspections show signs of more widespread irregularities than previously known.

The critics say the ballots should be saved pending an investigation. They also say the secretary of state’s proposal to delay the destruction does not go far enough, and they intend to sue to preserve the ballots.

12. Blackwell and Abramoff.
"Somebody needs to check and see if he has any connections to Abramoff."

I've been saying this for over a year. I think that there is a connection, and I think that it involves indian gambling (surprise, surprise). http://tinyurl.com/f9pga">Here is a 2003 archived snapshot from the website signohio.com which is no longer active. "SIGN" stood for "Stop Increased Gambling Now". The registrant of the domain "signohio.com" was "Ohioans For Blackwell". This 2005 article talks about the gambling issue in Ohio, mentions Blackwell's opposition to it, and mentions that the city of Lorain, Ohio wanted Governor Taft to approve a gaming pact with the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma (Taft opposed it).

None of this proves anything, but consider - a conservative, politically ambitious Republican who is deeply involved in the Bush camp, and who was involved in trying to prevent a gaming pact with an Indian tribe. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that this is at least strongly suggestive of some kind of involvement with Abramoff. I've tried to find something more but I've come up dry.

7. Two points-
1-Kerry's dumbass lawyer still represents a huge drag on finding out what, when, who, and who was responsible. He seems to be the best player on the republiclown team. He should be outed and dismissed.
2-Wanna bet there comes a series of "unfortunate" fires and "silly" little mistakes having to do with water damaged ballots and records along with "misplaced" and "Ida knows?"

10.  Humidity affects the ability of the machines to read the ballots
but not our ability to examine them by hand. However, your point is well taken--they will find a way to resist and this acquiescence by Blackguard makes me inordinately suspicious.
These fu**ers do not roll over until the next bridge is burned, before we can cross it.

11. there's a lot of factors in play here
I think that there will be some truth at last in Ohio, because Bush has alienated too many,
their comfort zone is gone and they do not want war with Iran. He has lost his base.
If this means that we have Denny Hastert as President, so be it, it would be an improvement.

13. Hastert is and would be so out of his depth,
yet he could not do worse than this crew.

16. Agreed, and remember Hastert at least would
have an idea of the role of Congress, Bush thinks that he is the entire government.
