Today, we heard our beleaguered Defense Secretary with the tired old Nazi imagery. Apparently, exercising oversight of the Administration is akin to capitulating to Hitler. I could speak at length about this, but the Democratic Leader's response to this covers it all:
For him to now lecture on moral clarity is a fresh embarrassment to the nation. His comments offer additional evidence that the end of his tenure as Secretary of Defense can not come soon enough. For her full statement, click here.

This was Barney Frank, Member of Congress from Massachusetts, and ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. Congressman Frank takes the Republicans to task for abandoning the real war on terrorism, the one in Afghanistan. Here is a snippet of his commentary: (

During the years after World War II, academics popularized the concept of the "big lie." This is a technique successfully used by some European regimes to manipulate the public perception of reality. It turned out that if enough people in official positions simply repeated things that were not true, and found elements in the media ready to reinforce them, lies would be believed and truths forgotten.
This approach surfaced in Vice President Dick Cheney's assertion that the defeat of Senator Joseph Lieberman in Connecticut's Democratic primary, largely but not entirely because of his support for the Iraq war, demonstrated that Democrats were unwilling to use appropriate force against terrorism. There isn't a bigger lie than the Administration's claims to have charted the only response to terrorism. Barney Frank's full op-ed is very thoughtful and well-reasoned response to this. I highly recommend it.
