No joke. It's a relatively cool night here in Houston, but the air ... smells. Smells bad. And I live 30 miles from the refineries. Sigh. What are we inhaling?

Edit to add: I just killed a cockroach w/my flip flop who had no life left. I haven't seen many recently, but this one was a goner. What did it inhale?

1. Sure it was a cockroach? It could have been a Republican pollster.

3. I've met many nice people from Texas over the years....
but for the life of me, I'll never understand what you folks see in Texas, with the possible exception of Austin. Can you explain it for me? I'm not talking politically here - because we can all agree that at best it is a mixed bag in that arena...

4. I used to live down there in Pasadena...
I hated it when the weather turned cool because that meant the wind was coming from the north, right over those refineries and the paper mill. It makes my throat swell up and my eyes water just thinking about it. :puke:

8. I live in Houston also, know what you mean.
What you need is some good air cleaners, they do work.

I live 5 blocks form I-10 and the smell is not always so great but air clears really do help.

I bought mine from a great website if you are interested I think I could find it again.

Wasn't it today nice, I went to the beach.

10. Don't waste your money on conventional "air cleaners". Go to
your local discount store and get a $10 box fan. Then buy a 1000 or 1250 micron 20x20x1 air filter and duct tape it to the back of the fan. For $20-$25 you'll have an air filter that works better than the $500 models - although it's not as pretty.

At least until we can get our politicians to do something about our environment.

14. Is that a carbon filter?
Isn't it carbon that would have the ability to filter out toxins from the air?

I can smell effluent up and down Rte 95 from Washington to NYC late in the evenings when I travel. I wonder how many people are dying because of this.
