Does anybody believe AAR about Mike Malloy's firing?
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 08:49 AM by Cascadian
According to the official Mike Malloy website, AAR fired Malloy because of "financial reasons". I think it's a bunch of "bat squeeze" as Mike would say. I think other reasons were involved. Does anybody else agree with me that it was not the reasons that the execs at AAR cited?

1. I'm sure it was "Financial"
As in Sponsors threatening to pull their advertising if Mike wasn't let go.

2. I am in a total state of shock. This is the first I heard of this. Mike
Malloy is AAR's BEST talk show host!

3.  No. When Mike had Alex Jones on and let it be known that he believed that
Bushco was behind 9/11, I knew that would be it for him.

18. Yes, Jones was on about 3 weeks ago and Mike was on
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 11:27 AM by OmmmSweetOmmm
Jones' show a week later. Maybe it had to be discussed from then to yesterday. If you look it that way, it isn't sudden at all.

The mainstream Dems won't touch the possibility of LIHOP or MIHOP with a million mile pole and even here at DU, if you start a thread that mentions Jones in a post on GD it automatically sends the thread to the 9/11 board. Hidden away in the dungeon......

4. They should of Dropped Springer instead since they cost him more $$$

I do not listen to Springer as I listen to Stephanie Miller show.

But if it is financial, I would think Springer is not carring his weight.

14. I never tune in for Springer. It's a wasted 3 hours in my book.
Not that Springer is a bad guy, but I just can't get his dumb TV show out of my mind when I tried to listen to him

5. Could it be because he had Alex Jones on
talking about MIHOP and then Mike Malloy went on Alex's show. When I heard the two of them talking I remember thinking "how long will tptb allow this kind of talk on the national airways".

I hope his next gig is on Sirius where he will be free to speak his mind.

I did not believe the financial aspect of AAR. It reminds me when Phil Donahue got canned from MSNBC. Phil had the highest rated show, but he was speaking against the war and that could not be allowed.

6. If truly financial - then we may be experiencing a Big BEEN HAD.
If writing a book (Karl's book or a plain novel or movie script) - you go to AAR to pay for your ads, then once in you start playing insider games by controlling content and employees by threatening to pull ads? How can you have Norton and all those big companies buying ads and blame firings of popular employees on financial problems?

They are adding lots of advertisers lately - some I don't consider friendly - some who are avid outsourcers. That is bad enough for me. I can't fault them that much - the bills have to be paid - but some are not blue companies, for sure.

Letting employees with a good to excellent following go is suspect - until we know more.

13. I am now convinced that AAR is run by idiots.
Mike's MIHOP position could have really stirred the pot of controversy and brought lots of listeners in to hear him, even if they view him as extreme. Heck, even Right-Wingers listened and called in to the show! Now tptb want to spoon-feed us pablum.
