I heard this morning they had hired a crowd of supporters to greet bush
It was said to be an attempt to counter protest by people such as Cindy Sheehan and other anti-war protesters. Then in the very next breath they said he was saying that his series of speeches are not political.

I am an anti-war American. I do not support bush's illegal war on the people of Iraq and I am angry that I have to pay for him to go across the country pimping it.

However, it's not enough that I have to pay for his waste of fuel and security expenses while he pimps his war, but since so many other's also agree with my feelings and are out there expressing that fact, I have to pay for the federal government to organize a group of pro-war supporters to surround the warmonger-chief. You know, so he won't look bad in public.

Yes, that's right, once again American tax payers are paying for the propaganda being used against them!

1. There's another post that says the 'crowd' was the doing of the
governor.

5. Do you have a link?
I'm looking but I'm not finding it. No doubt because I'm in a hurry and looking right over it.

4. Morning news I think it was the local coverage (KXAN Austin) NBC
I was getting dressed at the time but I'm pretty sure it was the local news persons voice. I wasn't the only one who heard it, however. It was the topic of our breakfast conversation.

3. This is no different than his fake rallies before November of 2004.
It's all about stage props to make the next round of stolen elections seem less implausible. Canned crowds make it appear as if a lot of people support Bush policies and GOP candidates.

6. the good old days
Remember three years ago you had to be registered republican to even see Bush?

The SS would throw out people that were dems or had subversive tee shirts.

Ahhhh, for the good old days of creeping totalitarianism back when they exploited the Iraq War for all it was worth and most 'murikan's ACTUALLY BELIEVED THEM.

They love nukes. They managed to completely nuke all their credibility!

8. Yes, but at least those rallies were partially funded by his supporters
I know we had to pay for the majority of it due to his being the reigning king and all, but the GOP at least paid for a portion. This is more like our paying for them to have their "media" read their pre-written, pre-approved message to us as if it's a news story.

within the context of strategic influence.

9. Talking Head Said $20 Million Contract. To Hype The War
PR for the war, costing you and I twenty million dollars. Of course this doesn't count the cost of the PR programs in DOD, each branch, and everywhere else.

22. Then there's the 450 Million dollar slush $$$ from Canada...
Bush 'Slush Fund,' Courtesy of Canada . "Want some wood? Heh-heh...hic burp"

"Softwood deal pours $450 million straight into White House", says U.S. lawyer.

...So, here we have the government of Canada requiring that Canadian private parties sign over $450 million to an escrow fund slated to be conveyed to the White House. The agreement does not mention Congress, and the Bush administration says that Congress will not be involved in any way with this agreement. The government of Canada thus is making a gift of $450 million to be spent by the president. That was more than a belt buckle, even more than a stetson, on July 6th. There is only one date certain in the deal: that the planned expenditure of the $450 million must be determined by September 1.

Political blowback?

Curious, that date, which traditionally is the kick-off for campaigns in the United States in election years. Yes, it's an election year, and the Republican control of Congress is considered in trouble. The entire Republican campaign war chest is less than $300 million. Canada will add to it by 150 per cent in funds to be expended for "meritorious initiatives." It does not require much imagination to foresee the strategic places where this money will be spent.

MUCH more here:

24. Don't forget Poppy Bush gave Canada's Barrick Gold some of the richest
gold deposits in the U.S. while he was president. And then got a seat on their board of directors for his trouble.

10. There are plenty of gum-chewing dumbasses in Utah
and in every other state who will show up just so they can "see the President" and perhaps shake his hand, and generally be part of a media event.

13. If had relied on them and not organized a counter crowd of their own
It would be different.

That's the point. The warmonger-in-chief doesn't want those people getting on camera representing him in public. He's ashamed to be associated with an unscreened group of people who support him.

Sorry, but if that's what he attracts then that's what he should have on camera supporting him.

No one else would show up, otherwise.

16. in Cuba years ago they used to move people in cattle trucks from one town
to another just so that they could chant songs of praise and support to FIDEL CASTRO...wonder when will bush start doing the same? Your post sounds like they may have already started except they may have paid them some wages for their showing up, and they may have not been transported in cattle trucks.
