I am tired of chasing Air America Radio. It has cost way more than its
worth.

We invested in Sirius very early on, just because of Air America Radio.

I was so excited that FINALLY progressives and liberals would have a radio forum.

I paid, williningly.

Then AAR signed an exclusive deal with XM.

I stayed with Sirius because of the investment in hardware, but after one year of Lynn Samuals and
Ed Schultz, I ponyed up more money and switched to XM.

The promise from AAR was that XM provided the financial platform for growth and longevity.

This slight-of-hand trick by AAR to fire Mike Malloy represents the tip of the iceberg. It would seem to me that top executives must be skimming off the top, not relenquishing their big salarys in order to keep top talent.

Conventionaly wisdom tells us that companies fail beause they are undercapitalized.

Why oh why must it be so hard for us progressives and liberals to keep afloat our ideals and messages.

Mike Malloy's style and message provided a format that filled a need and wasn't cookie cutter.

I just finished listening to that man who is supposed to lead our country give a speech in Utah making a case for war. Continued war in Iraq. Future war in Iran.

And all I can do is implore the shortsighted, visionless leaders at a radio broadcasting company to
re-think their mistake of firing Mike Malloy.

Truth-Seekers we are.

1. Very well put! I found myself "chasing" AAR as well....I also agree

with you about AAR's "top executives" it seems like there is no considering anything except profits and more profits...Well profits are fine but so is a bit of a sacrifice for something very important to many people who indeed care. If it's indeed just business as usual fuck the substance...that's what I rebel against and they would be no different in my book...There's something to be said for caring and doing the right thing...However, apparently not to be expected in business, bullshit, it called greed...so I have still have the freedom to say fuck AAR until proven otherwise!

2. " why must it be so hard..."?
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 02:18 PM by SoCalDem
That's always been MY gripe.. repubes just have to turn on a radio..ANY radio..ANYWHERE..car, home, work, back yard..and they are "treated" to their "rockstars"..Hannity, Boortz, Limbaugh, Savage, Liddy, O'Really, etc....BUT

if a liberal/progressive wants to hear anything remotely approaching central-left commentary, we must PURCHASE extra equipment and PAY extra for subscriptions or for high-speed internet.
We either have to be attached to a computer, or near our satellite receivers to even have a chance to hear intelligent commentary..

It's almost like a secret club, and it's no wonder that our "voices of reason" get little attentions, since they are NOT the voices that everyone readily recognizes...

To find anything remotely resembling truth, we must PAY estra..we hve to buy a theatre ticket, a book, or subscribe to radio or magazines.

republispeak is in the public square for FREE..:grr:

there has to be a lawsuit in there somewhere :grr:

5. I hear you, SoCalDem, and I feel the same way.
I, too, was one who followed AAR; first, for my birthday, I got Sirius. Then, later, for another birthday, I got XM.

And, I also notice that my rightwing friends can turn on any channel - either radio or T.V. - and hear corporatist-driven drivel.

Meanwhile, I'm glad just to see something on WorldLink or FreeSpeechTV (I have to DISH to enjoy that).

And, I have to have XM, here in the Temecula Valley, to hear AAR. The only exception: sometimes I can get 1360 KLSD in San Diego.

4. In which case watch out for Sam Seder.
He may well be next to leave AAR not of his own choosing. At least that's the last rumour I heard. There's a lot of things happening even with AAR management so when the musical chairs are over there will be some things changed.

Mark.
