President Bush 'assassinated' in new TV docudrama
President Bush 'assassinated' in new TV docudrama
31.08.06

Bush is shot by a sniper in a scene from Death of a President.

This is the dramatic moment when President George Bush is gunned down by a sniper after a public address at a hotel, in a gripping new docudrama soon to be aired on TV.

Set around October 2007, President Bush is assassinated as he leaves the Sheraton Hotel in Chicago.

Death of a President, shot in the style of a retrospective documentary, looks at the effect the assassination of Bush has on America in light of its 'War on Terror'.

The 90 minutes feature explores who could have planned the murder, with a Syrian-born man wrongly put in the frame.

Peter Dale, head of More4, which is due to air the film on October 9, said the drama was a "thought-provoking critique" of contemporary US society.

13. I'm holding out for a better fantasy ending...
...one where our criminal justice system actually investigates all the Bush abuses and from the evidence we hear from the public court hearings, we, as a nation, agree that the only verdict is guilty, guilty GUILTY! What happens to Bush is irrelevant. What's more important is that we see how cronyism is destroying our country and agree that these networks generate at the local level, so we begin branching out our criminal justice department and start pursuing white collar crime at all levels of government. We'll call them the Public Office Abuse Investigators. And because we go back and investigate old abuses, we keep our country safe from blowhard, Ivy League Legacies or the wannabes that cling to them like ticks.

2. don't let him see it, he won't move off the Red Room floor and insist that
he's dead.
"Nooooooo, I'm dead, it was on the teevee!" as Condi pulls him around by the legs.

6. Time to check for a soul
You people are some sick puppies. Think of what you are
advocating. This is where practicing hatred gets you: You
actually wish for someone to be killed. Do you really think
you've got souls?

14. we do not advocate killing.
george does, and he kills every day, and he plans on killing even more tomorow. Those "souls" he has killed are what makes us want him to just go home. everything he touches turns to shit. think about it.

15. No one here is advocating anything...
And yes, we have souls. It would require not having a soul to not realize that if this man were either not living or not president that thousands upon thousands of people's lives would have been spared. Bush is probably the most prolific murderer of the 21st century. I certainly wouldn't miss him.

him President Privet or something like that. Also, the still picture accompanying the article is eerily reminicent of the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, which I watched live on TV, back then. Also, the choice of another Arab in the Sirhan Sirhan character also seems to be oddly reminicent. Since we haven't seen the film we don't know what the film makers are going for, are they updating the Kennedy assassination and using contemporary characters to explore an old mystery?

Welcome to DU, I think.

19. Think of how the GOP could exploit his martyrdom!
It would make 9/11 pale in comparison. Even worse, we'll be stuck with President Cheney (well...that's more or less what we have now, it's just that his ugly mug will be on tv a lot more often.)

24. I'd hate to think of the repression that would follow such an event
You think the NSA spying on us now is bad -- after something like this, anybody to the left of Attila the Hun (and Islamic fundies, who are to the right of Attila the Hun) will in a place like Gitmo.

Of course, that could be the point the movie is making; I don't know.

In any event, I would never dream of executing or incarerating Mr. Bush or his cronies or anybody else without the fair trial they have no problem denying to so many.

28. Great timing, BTW
Just another way to rally the base... claiming Hollywood Liberals want Bush murdered. Even if it's baseless it gives them rant fodder.

If Bush were to be assassinated it would have been before... besides we all know it's the right wingers in the Military and Intelligence areas of government that does the Presidential whackings and the war mongers are quite happy with Herr Bush right about now.
