could "diebold" comments be behind Malloy firing?
I didn't hear it myself but a friend told me a few months back that Malloy was talking about the electronic voting machines and said something to the effect that he's gonna smash one himself and that the people are going to have to do the same in order to get back to honest elections. Did anyone else hear that show?

My friend was thrilled at the suggestion and agreed that it was the only way we'll ever get our democracy back....are they afraid Malloy's idea will catch on?

It will be the People who save this country...if it is saved. Congress is too cowardice.

any thoughts?

1. could "diebold" comments be behind Malloy firing?
Simply...no.

Its just a business decision, we need to let it go.

8. I doubt...
That Diebold had anything to do with it... However, I strongly disagree that we should simply, "let it go". This is censorship, plain and simple and if we let it continue the small advances made on the Left with respect to radio will be lost and we will be left with nothing but wishy-washy, moderates like Springer and Franken.

10. Stop this "it was a business decision" meme.
Letting Marc Maron go and cancelling "Morning Sedition" was a business decision. They announced it early on, and let his contract lapse. They didn't pull the plug suddenly after signing a new deal with him.

AAR is not telling us why they fired Mike. They have not explained or justified it.

2. If they were gonna fire Malloy over controversial statements...
they'd have fired him in the first week he was on the air. I think this probably came down to cash, not politics

13. Well not cash as in what they paid Mike

maybe nervous sponsors - or the new station not wanting him - but what is so strange is that AAR told Mike and Kathy that they could announce they were coming back to NYC and that the contract was on the way....

I think AAR has completely screwed up this move to the new station and the show line up - I mean for several weeks we have waited to hear about Sam Sedar and he kept saying soon soon soon - and I'm not even sure Sam's contract has been finalized - whole thing is TOTALLY effed up and has shown AAR management as being VERY lame.

4. I don't see why not. Advocating any action that could really get
something done seems to be strictly forbidden. We're just repeatedly told to write our representatives, write to the newspaper, write this, and write that. Well...we've been doing a LOT of writing and absolutely NOTHING is going our way...NOTHING!!!

5. If I were Mike Malloy....
...I would hire the biggest, baddest body guards I could find. I am frightened by his sudden vulnerability.

6. They've all talked about Diebold. Thom Hartman,
subbing for Randi in place of Mike Malloy, just mentioned them yesterday and how Howard Dean showed on TV that they could be hacked.

I'm beginning to think this is a personality conflict with one of the AAR bigwigs who can throw his weight around. I think it might be reversed if we keep calling and mailing.

11. Financial Decision - Not True!
Gee I thought we were the party that didn't lie. AAR is telling a whopper!

Read Sheldon Drobny's (one of the founders of AAR) post on Huff Post:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sheldon-drobny/mike-malloy-and-andy-roon_b_28437.html

Mike was the lowest paid personality on AAR.

I resent your "Move along now, nothing to see here" attitude. The right-wing has been telling us that since 2000. Florida recount, Downing St. Memos, Ohio election fraud, illegal wiretapping, etc., etc.

When did it become admirable and fashionable to be sheep and not speak truth to power? Mike spoke truth to power every night. And his fellow truthseekers are not shutting up and going away.

14. Welcome old_hippie!
I read that earlier and some of the comments that were there at the time. There was one long comment discussing other bone-headed decisions made by the suits at AAR. :hi:

16. You're welcome!
By southpaw do you mean someone who is left-handed? If that is the case, I'm not left-handed I chose my handle in a moment of lack of creativity! I'm left of "the new center" politically and from the state of TN.

The comment that I was referring was by someone whose screen name is naomicarter, but now I am curious to know who is Barry Champlain? And should I read further into the comments? :hi:
