Rinse and repeat : Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or war on terror
Edited on Sun Sep-03-06 11:24 AM by kentuck
In fact, Iraq has taken America away from the "war on terror". If Bush had not invaded Iraq, Osama may have been captured and the "war on terror" may have been over right now? But the war in Iraq was not a part of the war on terror at that time and it is not a part of the "war on terror" at this time. It is an excuse for the Republicans to attempt to maintain power. It's despicable that politicians would use the lives of American troops to further their political agenda but that is the sad truth.

1. there is no such thing as a 'war on terror' it is a PR campaign
whenever someone claims that Iraq is distracting us from the so-called 'war on terror' they are playing right into the neocons hand, IMO.

3. You may be right...
But I do believe people need to be educated one step at a time. Right now, Iraq is what the next election is really about - in the context of the "war on terror". In the larger picture, you are correct.

2. The war on terror will never be over..
.. as long as people consider it a war in the first place,
one where vague, invisible people are blamed, but
real people and countries are attacked and exploited
because they have some spurious association with
so-called terrorists, traits such as skin color.. or
regional proximity, or ties to the oil bidness..........

There can never be a war on terror because terror
is an abstract noun and not a thing. There can never
be a war on specific terrorists because they do not
consider themselves terrorists; they generally think
of themselves as righteous people standing up against
oppression and occupation, and against a country that
has exhibited amazing misunderstanding and insensitivity
towards their people and culture.

The only way to win this non-war is to get out of the ME
and learn how to think in terms of peace, sensitivity, and
detente.

4. santorum on MTP today when asked
(in so many words) you were totally wrong about wmd weren't you dumbass, responded, "we found lots of old weapons." They are painstakingly evolving away from their original lie. It pains me terribly to think that we went from being greeted as liberators and mission accomplished to this is going to take a long time. And an ever shrinking bush base buys every drop of it.

7. I think Democrats may need to repeat this over and over...
Because this is what Bush and the Repubs plan on running on. Discredit their premise for going to war and they have not a leg to stand on...
