If Bush hadn't stolen the election Al Gore would have prevented 9/11
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 11:10 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
In the early days after Idiot Son stole the election Clinton told Idiot Son his first priority should be terrorism and Idiot Son ignored him.

Al Gore would have listened, bin Laden would have likely been killed, and the plot would have been foiled especially after "Al Qaeda Determined to Strike" report was received by President Gore.

3000 Americans were slaughtered on 9/11 because an incompetent buffoon stole the election and then failed to protect America.

What follows is a dramatization of what happened there on 9/11."

(And, parallel universes being what they are, one exactly like that may actually exist!)

Jan of 2001 as a response to the USS Cole bombing. No action was taken by Bush to go after al Qaida for that attack.

9. yes indeed...
Bush failed to prevent the attacks of 911 but that was what he was supposed to do! And he's been very successful in using those events to accomplish this group's goals. I highly reccomend everyone read the section titled "Rebuilding America's Defenses".

countries that might have a little respect for a nation that actually has "real" elections and leaders who are accountable to the people they serve?

4. You're absolutely right, especially considering the bush regime
let it happen on purpose.

Clinton's administration was clearly on the ball on handling terrorism. The countless reports, recommendations, meetings, actions, statements all indicate a massive anti-terrorist effort was in full swing by the Clinton administration, underscored by the prevention the previous year of the millenium plots.

It's very clear too that the 'terrorists' waited until bush was in office to perp 911.

16. Richard Clarke, former WH counter-terrorism chief, has stated under oath..
... that the incoming administration was fully briefed, fully warned, and forcefully urged to respond to the Cole bombing and go after bin Laden. It's in his testimony, in his book, in his interviews. And, apparently, in a memo in the National Security Council memo.

How could anyone not be aware of all this? It was such a huge part of the whole 9/11 inquiry. Ignorance of such basic facts doesn't exactly shout "rationality," does it? More like "denial."

17. Here's how I worded it in a post a few days ago...
9/11 would not have happened, almost assuredly, under a Gore
presidency. And we had a Gore presidency, until it was stolen. Then we had a 9/11. It's that simple.

22. Gore would have implemented the Hart Rudman report
The DOJ under Gore would have listed :Counter-terrorism
in it's top priority list unlike Ashcroft who didn't
even list it as a priority .

I believe the 9/11 attacks would have been stopped with
authentic leadership in D.C.

In fact I believe al queda saw bush's oil crony selection
as a window of opportunity to attack America.

23. i think it is silly to speculate
what would have happened if Bush had not stolen the Presidency. There is no way to actually know if 9/11 would have been prevented with Gore in office, especially with a hostile Republican majority in control of Congress.

What we do know however, is that we would not be in Iraq today if Gore was in Office, and our future would not seem as bleak.

25. It's not speculation. Richard Clarke had a plan to go after
al Qaeda militarily and by interfering with their finances.

11-7-00 Sandy Berger had asked for commando raids on the
al Qaeda camps. This was opposed by the Chairman of the Joint
Chiefs and the Secy of Defense Wm Cohen.

The Clintonists then decided that rather than hand off a half-done
war to Bush, they would pass Clarke's plan on to them.

There is of course no proof that Gore would have implemented Clarke's
plan, but all indications are that he would have. If he had, our country
would have been expecting reprisals and would have gone on alert.

Bush's extremely unreasonable acts were essential to the success of the plot:

1. Ignoring warnings from 14 countries, 3 FBI offices, Clinton, Berger, Clarke,
and the CIA.

2. Shutting down FBI antirerrorist investigations.

3. Ignoring the "Bin Laden Determined the Strike in US" memo.

the right wing has told us it's silly and so we're not allowed to say that. :spank:

It is long past time the Dem leadership start playing offense about terrorism, Hart-Rudman, Clarke, et al. They let Repubs have the upper hand in the name of "national unity" while Republicans spent 5 years slaughtering us. If they can make up shit about Clinton and bin Laden, we sure as hell can say what would have happened in a Gore Presidency, especially considering he's the one the majority of Americans voted for.

31. Clinton's intent to go after al Qaeda was quite clear.
Bush's inactions were essential to the success of the attacks.

In the absence of evidence that Gore was opposed to Clinton's policies
on al Qaeda, and the absence of evidence that he would have shared
Bush's passive-agressivity, the conclusion that 9/11 could not have
happened under Gore is quite reasonable and no other conclusion,
IMHO, is.

27. When 9/11 happened...
I told a conservative friend "This is a national scandal.... that we should have let those few guys with boxcutters do all this damage. Heads need to roll."

He said.. "Right! Clinton left us wide open and weak."

WTFF?

Isn't the guy in charge supposed to be at fault... especially after all we've learned since?

If Gore would have been in the oval office after a Repub president and something like 9/11 happened, the Repubs would have lynched him.

I've said elsewhere on these forums... the election of 200 is a turning point in WORLD history. The R's like to talk about the "post 9/11 world". I think it's more like the "post 2000 world". I see nothing good coming for the US from 2000 on. Dumbya has done something nobody could have believed... he's united the world, and especially the Muslim world, against us.

I think Gore would have taken terrorism more seriously before September 11, whereas Bush couldn't be bothered with it. Gore would not have acted like he slept though a presidential briefing on Osama's scheme.

But no one can say extra attention given to the overall problem would have prevented any one terrorist act, even one of this magnitude.

What I feel more comfortable saying is that President Gore would have handled the crisis more sensibly after it happened. He really would have looked to the international community for help in apprehending Osama and his lieutenants. There would have been no endless war; he would have defined any government policy with concrete goals and metrics to determine success and failure. He would have known better than to think that we could fight a war on all terrorism and would have defined specific terrorists and, if necessary, terrorist-suporting states, with whom the US will deal.

He would not have tried to spin an invasion of Iraq into a part of the action against al Qaida. He would have examined all the intelligence available and let the chips fall where they may; from what we know, that would appear to mean that an invasion of Iraq would not have been justified, and it would not have taken place.

35. It wasn't 3000 "Americans". Sheesh!
These people were not ALL Americans, so could we please stop saying that - it dishonors them to deny them THEIR nationality. Republicans say that ALL THE TIME, and it's simply false, false, false!

Otherwise, I agree wholeheartedly with your post. Especially considering the Gore Comission report, which recommended hardening cockpit doors to avoid exactly what happened on 9/11. That alone could have prevented what happened.

36. Remember in '00 when Al Gore hosted SNL...
In one of the skits, Gore pointed to a picture of Usama Bin Laden and said, "Do you think Bush is going to worry about him?". ...Without a doubt, if Al Gore were president he would have tried to stop the 9-11 attacks. ...Or at the very least he would have warned the airlines. Bush never even picked up the phone to warn the airlines.

That's point we have to get across, BUSH KNEW WE WERE GOING TO BE ATTACK USING AIRPLANES AND HE NEVER PICKED UP THE PHONE TO WARN THE AIRLINES!!
